    Echipa
    națională de handbal a României a încheiat la egalitate, 33 la 33, jocul
    disputat în deplasare cu Austria în
    Grupa a 2-a a preliminariilor Campionatului European din 2022. România a
    controlat jocul în prima repriză şi a intrat la pauză cu un avantaj de cinci
    goluri, scor 16-11. Austria a reuşit să revină după pauză, a egalat, apoi a
    preluat conducerea. Cu puțin timp înainte de final, scorul era 32 la 29 pentru
    gazde. România a revenit, a egalat, dar austriecele au înscris cu 12 secunde
    înainte de sfârșitul jocului. În ultima secundă însă, România, deşi evolua în
    inferioritate după cartonaşul roşu primit de Alina Ilie, a marcat golul
    egalării prin cea mai bună jucătoare a sa, Bianca Bazaliu, autoare a 11 goluri.
    Tot duminică, Danemarca a învins selecţionata Insulelor Feroe, cu 39-19, în
    deplasare. În grupă, Danemarca ocupă primul loc, cu 4 puncte, urmată de
    România, cu 3 puncte, de Austria, cu un punct, și de Feroe, fără punct. România
    va juca următoarele partide în martie, acasă, apoi în deplasare, cu Danemarca.
    Primele două clasate se califică la turneul final, care va fi găzduit de
    Slovenia, Macedonia de Nord şi Muntenegru, în noiembrie 2022.


    România a câștigat, duminică, cinci
    medalii de aur şi una de argint, la Campionatele Europene de canotaj pentru
    juniori de la München. Tinerii canotori români au urcat pe cea mai înaltă
    treaptă a podiumului în probele de doi rame feminin, doi rame masculin, patru
    rame feminin, patru vâsle feminin și 8+1 masculin. Medaliile de argint au fost
    obținute la 8+1 feminin.


    În turneul de tenis de la Indian
    Wells, dotat cu premii de 8.150.000 de
    dolari, Simona Halep a fost învinsă,
    duminică, în turul trei, de bielorusa Aleksandra Sasnovici, numărul 100 WTA, cu
    7-5, 6-4. Românca s-a înclinat după o oră şi 38 de minute de joc în faţa
    sportivei care, în turul anterior, trecuse de britanica de origine română Emma
    Răducanu, câştigătoarea titlului la US Open. În turul al treilea au mai pierdut două românce. Sorana Cîrstea a fost învinsă
    de ucraineanca Elina Svitolina, a patra favorită, cu 4-6, 6-4, 7-6, iar Irina
    Begu a fost eliminată de jucătoarea americană Shelby Rogers, care a învins-o cu
    6-0, 6-2. Astfel, la Indian Wells nu a mai rămas în competiție nicio româncă.

    Coronavirus en Roumanie — En Roumanie, vendredi a été le troisième jour consécutif avec plus de 7 000 nouveaux cas d’infection au coronavirus recensés en 24 heures, la plupart à Bucarest. 145 décès des suites de l’infection au virus SARS-CoV-2 enregistrés en 24 heures s’y sont ajoutés. Dans les unités de soins intensifs, le nombre de malades de Covid-19 a franchi le seuil de 1 100 personnes, dont 16 enfants, une situation qui n’a plus été enregistrée depuis début mai. Dans 60 villes et plus de 350 communes à travers le pays, y compris la Capitale, le taux d’infection a dépassé le seuil des 3 cas par mille habitants dépistés en 14 jours. Bucarest entre dans le scénario dit rouge, qui présuppose toute une série de restrictions. A mesure que la situation épidémiologique empire, la vaccination commence à reprendre. En tout, plus de 10 millions de doses de vaccin anti-Covid ont été administrées en Roumanie, depuis le début de la campagne de vaccination. La directrice du Centre national de suivi et de contrôle des maladies transmissibles, Adriana Pistol, a déclaré vendredi que le seul variant identifié ces deux dernières semaines par séquençage a été le variant Delta.



    Pays à risque — Sur toile de fond de la flambée des cas de contamination, la Roumanie entre sur la liste jaune des pays à risque épidémiologique, a décidé le Comité national pour les situations d’urgence. Il a aussi mis à jour la liste des pays à risque, et qui entrera en vigueur le dimanche 26 septembre. Désormais dans la zone rouge l’on retrouvera la Croatie, la Lettonie, l’Autriche, la Bosnie-Herzégovine. La Grèce, Chypre, la Norvège, le Liechtenstein, le Kazakhstan ou encore l’Azerbaïdjan passeront sur la liste jaune. La liste verte comporte, elle, des pays tels le Portugal, l’Islande et le Japon. A noter que les personnes vaccinées ne doivent pas observer de quarantaine en arrivant en Roumanie depuis des pays se trouvant sur les listes rouge ou jaune.



    Politique — En Roumanie, le Parti national libéral (PNL), le principal parti de la coalition gouvernementale, élit ce samedi son nouveau leader dans le cadre d’un ample congrès. Les candidats en lice sont Ludovic Orban, l’actuel chef du parti et président de la Chambre des députés, et Florin Cîţu, le premier ministre. Le président roumain Klaus Iohannis, issu du même parti, sera présent lui aussi au congrès pour soutenir le premier ministre. Au bout d’une campagne électorale dure au sein du parti, Ludovic Orban a déclaré être prêt à remplacer Florin Cîtu en tant que premier ministre. Ce dernier accuse l’actuel leader libéral de s’être servi de son conflit avec l’Union Sauvez la Roumanie – PLUS (USR-PLUS) dans sa lutte politique pour la direction du parti. Pour rappel, USR-PLUS a récemment quitté la coalition gouvernementale, après avoir retiré son soutien au premier ministre Florin Cîţu. La semaine prochaine, le second tour en ligne des élections est prévu lieu au sein du parti dont les membres doivent élire leur futur chef en optant soit pour Dacian Cioloş, soit pour Dan Barna, les deux co-présidents en exercice. Au premier tour, déroulé aussi en ligne, Dacian Cioloş, député européen, a réuni 46 % des voix, alors que Dan Barna, ancien vice premier ministre, a obtenu 43 % des suffrages ; un troisième candidat, Irineu Darău, a réuni 10 % des voix.



    Diplomatie — Le ministre roumain des Affaires étrangères, Bogdan Aurescu, a participé à réunion ministérielle de l’Alliance pour le multilatéralisme, tenue en marge de la 76e réunion de l’Assemblée générale de l’ONU. A cette occasion, le chef de la diplomatie roumaine a souligné l’importance de protéger l’environnement, notamment dans le contexte de la pandémie de coronavirus. « Les changements climatiques, la dégradation de l’environnement et de la biodiversité doivent être abordés en tant que défis interdépendants », a-t-il déclaré. Cette réunion a été aussi l’occasion de se pencher sur des sujets et des défis à relever au niveau mondial, tels la lutte contre la pandémie, les droits de l’homme et l’égalité des genres, la lutte contre les changements climatiques ou encore la prévention de la détérioration de la biodiversité. Notons aussi que la réunion ministérielle de l’Alliance pour le multilatéralisme est une initiative franco-allemande lancée en 2019. Cette année, ses hôtes ont été le ministre de lEurope et des Affaires étrangères de la République française, Jean-Yves Le Drian, et le ministre fédéral allemand des Affaires étrangères, Heiko Maas.



    Rentrée universitaire — Le lundi 27 septembre, c’est la rentrée universitaire en Roumanie. Sur toile de fond de la pandémie, dans plusieurs université, telles « Babeş-Bolyai » de Cluj-Napoca (centre-ouest), l’université de l’Ouest de Timişoara ou encore « Alexandru Ioan Cuza » de Iaşi (nord-est), les cours théoriques seront dispensés en ligne, alors que les séminaires et les travaux dirigés dans les laboratoires auront lieu en présentiel. En revanche, les cours des facultés de l’Université de Bucarest seront dispensés en format hybride, soit simultanément en ligne et en présentiel. Des normes sanitaires seront imposées dans le contexte de la pandémie. Dans les campus estudiantins, les étudiants vaccinés auront la priorité et le nombre de places sera réduit. Selon les données du ministère de l’Education, à l’heure actuelle, 78 % des professeurs des universités de Roumanie, soit plus de 24 000 personnes, sont vaccinés.



    Salaires — En 2020, les Roumains ont touché un salaire moyen brut de 5 123 lei (1 000 euros environ), soit une hausse de 7,4 % par rapport à l’année précédente, fait savoir l’Institut national de la statistique. Les secteurs d’activité les plus profitables, avec des revenus supérieurs à la moyenne, sont les technologies de l’information et de la communication, le domaine financier et celui des assurances, l’administration publique ou encore la production et la distribution d’électricité. Au pôle opposé l’on retrouve l’hôtellerie et la restauration, l’agriculture, la sylviculture, la pêche et l’immobilier. A comparer avec l’année 1990, l’indice du revenu salarial réel a été de 225 % plus élevé en 2020, constate également l’Institut national de la statistique.



    Tennis — Kate, la duchesse de Cambridge, a rencontré vendredi Emma Răducanu, lors d’un événement spécial destiné à fêter les nouveaux champions de tennis du Royaume-Uni. Răducanu, 18 ans, dont le père est Roumain, est maintenant célèbre après être devenue la première joueuse britannique à avoir remporté un tournoi du Grand Chelem après 44 ans. L’activité de la Fédération britannique de tennis est placée sous le patronage de la duchesse de Cambridge, qui vient souvent dans la loge royale de Wimbledon. La victoire d’Emma Răducanu à l’US Open, où la joueuse était issue des qualifications, a été saluée par la reine Elizabeth II.

    tenis feminin pe anul 2021 are o învingătoare surpriză. Este vorba despre Emma
    Raducanu în vârstă de 18 ani, jucătoare născută în Canada din tată român și
    mamă chinezoaică și care reprezintă Marea Britanie. Surpriza, și premiera
    totodată, constă în faptul că este prima jucătoare venită din calificări care
    câștigă un trofeu de Mare Șlem. În finală, Raducanu a învins-o cu 6-4, 6-3 pe
    canadianca Laylah Fernandez. După această performanță, Raducanu a urcat până pe
    locul 23 mondial.


    În Liga
    Campionilor la handbal feminin, Grupa A; campioana României CSM București a
    pierdut în deplasare în fața formaţiei daneze Team Esbjerg, cu scorul de 22-21.
    Bucureștencele au primit ultimul gol cu câteva secunde înainte de final și au
    pierdut o partidă în care conduseseră în ultimele 4 minute. În celelalte
    partide din grupă, Podravka Vegeta Koprivnica a dispus de Buducnost Podgorica
    cu 29-22, Rostov pe Don a trecut de Brest Bretagne Handball cu 26-24, în timp
    ce Borussia Dortmund a remizat cu FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria, scor 25-25.


    În
    competiția masculină de handbal EHF European Cup, echipa română Minaur Baia
    Mare a surclasat pe teren propriu echipa bulgară HC Lokomotiv Gorna Oreahoviţa
    cu scorul de 44-22, în prima manşă a turului întâi. Manşa secundă se va juca pe
    18 septembrie, la Gabrovo. Dacă va trece de formaţia bulgară, Minaur o va
    întâlni în turul secund pe Hapoel Ashdod din Israel.


    În etapa a 8-a a campionatului primei
    ligi române de fotbal s-au înregistrat rezultatele: CS Mioveni – Chindia
    Târgovişte 0-1, UTA Arad – Rapid Bucureşti 2-2, FC Argeş – FC U Craiova 1-0, FC
    Botoşani – CFR Cluj 1-0, Gaz Metan Mediaș – FC Voluntari 1-2. Ultima partidă,
    derby-ul tradițional dintre FCSB și Dinamo Bucureşti, s-a încheiat cu scorul de
    6-0, cea mai mare diferență dintre cele două din istorie. În clasament continuă
    să conducă CFR Cluj cu 21 de puncte, urmată de Rapid și FC Botoșani, ambele cu

Some 2,250 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Romania on Sunday, in 33,200 tests, the Strategic Communication Group has announced. 29 Covid-19 related deaths were reported. At least 4,800 infected people are currently hospitalized, of which 600 in intensive care. So far, 5.2 million people have been fully vaccinated in Romania, which accounts for about one third of the eligible population.



    School. Almost 3 million pupils and preschoolers return to classes in Romania on Monday. The new school year has 34 weeks, is divided into two semesters and ends on June 11, 2022. The Minister of Education, Sorin Cîmpeanu, has announced that, on the first day of school, festivities will be allowed in which parents can participate, provided they wear a mask and keep a safe distance from other participants. But there are also children who will not be able to go to school physically, as several towns and villages have exceeded the COVID-19 infection rate of 6 cases per one thousand inhabitants. 7000 pupils will not be able to physically participate in ceremonies marking the start of the new school year, due to either a high rate of infection or lack of proper infrastructure in schools, Sorin Cîmpeanu has announced. He has voiced hope that important progress will be made in vaccinating pupils after school starts, as the relevant authorities can organize mobile teams, which will bring immunization closer to schools.



    Moldova. The Republic of Moldova is faced with one of the highest rates of new cases of Covid-19 and related deaths, Radio Chisinau reports. Over the past week, the number of new cases has increased by 43 percent and the number of related deaths has doubled. On the other hand, France, which is among the leading European countries in terms of vaccination, with more than 80% of the population over the age of 12 already vaccinated, is preparing to implement new measures to combat the epidemic as of next week. Starting September 13, a new vaccination campaign starts for the administration of a third dose, first in the centers for the elderly, as their residents were the first to be vaccinated at the beginning of the year. Countries around the world are currently considering administering vaccines to children, while pharmaceutical companies, including Moderna, are trying to get the green light for the use of anti-COVID-19 serums in teenagers. Pfizer, whose COVID-19 vaccine is already being administered to teenagers, has started testing the vaccine in younger children. Globally, there have been at least 224 million cases of infection with the new coronavirus and more than 4.6 million related deaths, according to worldometers.



    Visit. On Sunday, in Budapest, Pope Francis described the Hungarian nation as faithful to its roots but also urged Hungarians to be open to others. In what observers saw a diplomatic hint at Viktor Orbans anti-migration policies, the Pope said that the symbol of the cross meant we should reach to the others as well. The 84 year-old Pope went to Hungary for the closing service of the International Eucharistic Congress. He had closed-door talks with President Janos Ader and Prime Minister Orban, which were not followed by press statements. The head of the Hungarian government, who disapproves of the Popes call for refugees of all faiths to be received in Europe, wrote on Facebook that he had asked the Sovereign Pontiff not to let Christians in Hungary perish. A Calvinist and married to a Roman Catholic, Orban does not share the Popes tolerance of LGBT people and is often accused of promoting homophobic policies. From Hungary, Pope Francis left for neighboring Slovakia, where he will stay for three days.



    Festival. The George Enescu International Festival continues in Romania. Its the 25th edition of the festival and celebrates 140 years since the birth of the great Romanian composer. The Russian conductor Vladimir Jurowski is once again the artistic director of the festival. He has stated that “this anniversary edition gathers the most important musicians of the world and promotes the idea of united European cultures”. In total, 32 orchestras from 14 countries perform at this years edition of the festival. Radio Romania and the Romanian Television are co-producers of the George Enescu International Festival.



    Untold. The sixth edition of the largest electronic music festival in Europe, Untold, has ended in Cluj Napoca, north-western Romania. Over 200 DJs and artists participated in the event, after almost two years of break, on the seven stages of the festival. In total, more than 100,000 people attended the events organized during the festival, which began on Thursday. This year, the organizers tried to combine electronic music with traditional tunes. Untold gathers every year the most important DJs in the world. This year, in Cluj-Napoca were present, among others, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Afrojack, Martin Garrix, Nina Kravitz and Paul Kalkbrenner.



    Tennis. The British teenager Emma Răducanu (18 years old), won the US Open 2021, after, on Saturday, in the final, she defeated the Canadian Leylah Fernandez (19 years old), 6-4, 6- 3. Emma won the prestigious American tournament without losing a set and coming from qualifications, something that has never happened in the history of tennis. The US Open was Emmas second participation in a Grand Slam tournament, after the one at Wimbledon, where she had to give up in the round of 16, due to medical problems. Emma, born to a Romanian father and an Asian mother, has thus secured a 2.5 million USD check and has jumped from the 150th to the 23rd position in the WTA rankings. (MI)

The Sovereign Pontiff is in Budapest for the closing service of the 52nd Eucharistic Congress, which is attended by over 75,000 believers from around the world. Also today, Pope Francis will head for Bratislava. The Sovereign Pontiffs first day in Slovakia includes two meetings with church representatives, and, in the evening, a fraternal discussion with the Jesuits in that country. Pope Francis visit to Slovakia ends on Wednesday, when Catholic believers celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.



    Festival. The George Enescu International Festival continues in Romania. Today, the Bremen Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra will perform on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest opuses by Richard Strauss and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Conducting will be Jeremy Roller. Tonights concert will feature the famous German soprano Diana Damrau. Also today, a recital of pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach will be given in Sibiu (center) by the famous violinist Gil Shaham. The Cluj Napoca orchestra and opera choir, under the baton of conductor David Crescenzi, will present to the public the opera Macbeth, by Giuseppe Verdi. The 2021 edition of the Festival is the 25th and celebrates 140 years since the birth of the great Romanian composer George Enescu. Russian conductor Vladimir Jurowski is once again the artistic director of the festival. In total, 32 orchestras from 14 countries perform at this years edition of the George Enescu Festival. Radio Romania, with its musical groups and audio specialists, is, together with the Romanian Television, co-producer of the George Enescu International Festival.



    Untold. The sixth edition of the largest electronic music festival in Europe, Untold, ends today in Cluj Napoca, north-western Romania. Over 200 DJs and artists have participated in this event, after almost two years of break. In total, more than 100,000 people attended the events organized during the festival, which began on Thursday. This year, the organizers tried to combine electronic music with traditional tunes. Untold gathers every year the most important DJs in the world. This year, in Cluj-Napoca were present, among others, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Afrojack, Martin Garrix, Nina Kravitz and Paul Kalkbrenner.



    Tennis. The British teenager of Romanian descent, Emma Răducanu (18 years old), won the US Open 2021, after, on Saturday, in the final, she defeated the Canadian Leylah Fernandez (19 years old), 6-4, 6- 3. Emma won the prestigious American tournament without losing a set and coming from qualifications, something that has never happened in the history of tennis. The US Open was Emmas second participation in a Grand Slam tournament, after the one at Wimbledon, where she had to give up in the round of 16, due to medical problems. Emma, born to a Romanian father and an Asian mother, has thus secured a 2.5 million USD check and has jumped from the 150th to the 23rd position in the WTA rankings. (MI)

    Solidarité – Le président de la Roumanie, Klaus Iohannis, a adressé une lettre à son homologue américain, Joe Biden, à l’occasion de la commémoration des 20 années écoulées depuis les attaques terroristes du 11 septembre 2001 aux Etats-Unis, les plus sanglantes de l’histoire. Le chef de l’Etat roumain souligne qu’après les attentats, la souffrance commune s’est transformée en solidarité et en un but commun, aux Etats-Unis et partout dans le monde, dans les pays alliés et partenaires, y compris en Roumanie. Selon M Iohannis, la détermination générale de faire face aux défis communs demeure une leçon précieuse, toujours pertinente, à une époque marquée par des menaces provenant tant d’acteurs étatiques que non-étatiques. Le président Iohannis a réaffirmé que la Roumanie est aux côtés du peuple américain, elle est engagée à lutter contre le terrorisme et l’extrémisme violent, quelle que soit l’idéologie, ainsi qu’à renforcer nos valeurs communes : la démocratie, les droits de l’homme, la liberté d’expression et l’Etat de droit. A l’occasion de la commémoration de deux décennies depuis les attaques terroristes du 11 septembre 2001, dans lesquelles près de 3 000 personnes ont péri, dont quatre citoyens roumains, le ministère des Affaires étrangères de Bucarest transmet un message de solidarité et de profonde compassion aux familles des disparus dans ce tragique événement, mais aussi aux survivants et aux sauveteurs qui ont risqué leur propre vie dans les opérations de sauvetage. Le ministre Bogdan Aurescu a adressé, à l’occasion, une lettre au secrétaire d’Etat des Etats-Unis, Antony Blinken. Il y réitère le fait que de telles attaques violentes et de telles manifestations extrémistes ne peuvent nullement être justifiées. Il met en exergue l’engagement ferme et de longue durée de la Roumanie de participer, aux côtés des Etats-Unis, partenaire stratégique de la Roumanie, et de la communauté internationale, aux efforts communs de lutte contre le terrorisme et l’extrémisme violent.



    Coronavirus — La Roumanie a enregistré, samedi, 2 648 nouveaux cas de contamination au coronavirus. Sur l’ensemble des nouveaux cas de Covid-19, la plupart sont enregistrés à Bucarest — 345 – et dans les départements de Timis (ouest), Cluj (centre), et Constanta (sud-est). 47 personnes sont décédées des suites d’une contamination au Covid-19. Le nombre de personnes hospitalisées en Roumanie se monte à près de 4 454. 581 sont dans des unités de Réanimation – Soins intensifs. 116 patients sont mineurs, dont 8 en soins critiques. 5,2 millions de Roumains sont complètement immunisés, soit un tiers seulement de la population éligible.



    Tennis — La Britannique Emma Răducanu (18 ans), fille d’un Roumain, est devenue la première joueuse de tennis de l’histoire arrivée par qualification qui accède à un tournoi du Grand Chelem. Elle a vaincu en deux sets, par 6-1, 6-4, la Grecque Maria Sakkari à New York, dans les demi-finales de l’US Open. Răducanu, 150e au classement WTA avant cette compétition, affrontera pour le trophée un autre jeune espoir du tennis mondial, la Canadienne Leylah Fernandez (19 ans, 78e WTA). Cette dernière a vaincu à son tour, à l’avant-dernier acte, la Bélarusse Arina Sabalenka, 2e du monde, qu’elle a dépassée en trois sets : 7-6, 4-6, 6-4. La finale entre Emma Răducanu et Leylah Fernandez sera la première entre deux adolescentes à un tournoi majeur, après celle gagnée par l’Américaine Serena Williams face à la Suisse Martina Hingis, à l’édition 1999 de l’Open des Etats-Unis. Emma Răducanu atteint cette performance déjà à sa deuxième participation à un tournoi du Grand Chelem, après celui de Wimbledon, après celui auquel elle a été contrainte d’abandonner dans les huitièmes de finale, en raison de problèmes médicaux.
