    Lucian Pintilie’s “The Oak,” the first Romanian film digitally restored in

    “The Oak (1992), directed by Lucian Pintilie, one of the best films in the history of Romanian cinema, is also the first Romanian production converted to 4K, which allows for high-quality screening, by BRD – Groupe Société Générale and Fundația9. The new work was first screened at Lumière 2019 Grand Lyon Film Festival, a festival set up as a tribute to the Lumière brothers, and early this year, in February, it was also released in Romania.



    The digitization was completed at the Hiventy laboratory in France, and the restoration took place in Romania, at the Avanpost Media studio, with the support and counselling of Florin Mihăilescu, director of photography and close friend of director Lucian Pintilie.



    The restoration process took over 6 months, and was designed to improve the image and sound and to convert the film to 4K.



    Premiered at the 1992 Cannes Festival and based on the novel of the same name written by Ion Băieșu, “The Oak is Pintilies first film after his return from exile, and tells the story of a young teacher and a surgeon struggling with the last days of the communist regime. The cast includes Maia Morgenstern, Răzvan Vasilescu, Victor Rebengiuc, Marcel Iureș. “The Oak was a springboard for Maia Morgensterns international career, as it won her the European Film Academys award for best actress.



    The restoration of “The Oak is part of a broader programme run by Fundația 9, the “Lucian Pintilie Cinema Fund, created in the memory of the great Romanian film director at the initiative of Corina Șuteu, a member of the Foundations Board.



    With this Fund, Fundația9 seeks to pay tribute to the great Romanian filmmaker and to support art films by young Romanian directors. We talked to Anca Drăgoi, executive director of Fundația 9, and Sebastian Plămădeală, one of the senior technicians at Avanpost studio, about the first restoration in Romanian cinema.



    Anca Drăgoi: “The goal of the “Lucian Pintilie Cinema Fund was to support a young generation of film directors. We are also aware of the importance of recovering Lucian Pintilies work, especially since this is not necessarily regular practice in Romania. What we want, in fact, is to create a best practice in this respect. This first restoration and digitization project should ideally create a positive trend in recovering Romanias audio-visual heritage. We are aware that Romanian cinema needs a lot of support if it is to carry on, and I would be very happy to see that the restoration of “The Oak is a first example that encourages not only public, but also private stakeholders. Our first discussions were with the French co-producer and also distributor of the film, MK2, which was extremely efficient. There were several competitive offers at the time, but we realised that it would be of high symbolic value to prove that top quality things can be done in Romania as well. So we compared the offers, some of them coming from prestigious European labs, and decided to do the restoration in Romania, at Avanpost studio. I believe this benefitted everyone, including ourselves, in that it strengthened our self-confidence.



    Sebastian Plămădeală, one of the senior technicians with Avanpost studio, told us about the restoration process:



    Sebastian Plămădeală: “We were glad to be trusted by Fundația 9 with this challenging project. Fortunately, we started the restoration process with the film already digitized in this 4K format, the French co-producer MK2 scanned the negative film stock and also converted the sound from magnetic tape to digital format. This allowed us to focus on the actual restoration, instead of spending time to convert from the analogue to digital. The restoration involved 3 parallel levels: colouring, restoring the sound and restoring the image, which means eliminating debris or scratches mar from the original negative. A major challenge at each restoration of this kind is that you usually have to make decisions by yourself, without the film author. With “The Oak, we were lucky to have the support of Mr. Florin Mihăilescu, who worked closely with director Lucian Pintilie and is familiar with his choices. So we stayed true to the original.



    The restoration process involved 3 sound professionals from Avanpost Studio (Florin Tăbăcaru for sound mixing and editing, Dragoș Știrbu for dialogue editing and sound editing assistant Victor Miu) and 5 photography professionals (Workflow Supervisor Sebastian Plămădeală, technicians Alex Stoica, Irina Tomașu, and Andreea Nedelcu, and Claudiu Doagă for colouring). They were all coordinated by Carmen Rizac, in a project that took over 6 months to complete. The international distributor is MK2, the French co-producer of the film. (tr. A.M. Popescu)

    DEFENCE – Romania has met all its commitments to NATO, the Romanian Defence Minister Mihai Fifor said on Saturday. He added that the US President Donald Trumps request for the other Allied countries to also earmark 2% of their GDP to defence is justified. This is the second consecutive year when Romania allots these funds to defence, Fifor explained. He also mentioned that nearly 700 Romanian troops are currently deployed in Afghanistan, and the major Army equipment upgrade projects undertaken by Romania upon joining NATO are reaching their final stages.




    MUSEUMS – Scores of Romanian museum employees Saturday protested in front of the Ministry of Culture and National Identity headquarters. They say salaries do not reflect the importance, responsibility and complexity of their work, and some of them have lost incomes since the implementation of the unified pay scheme for public sector employees and the transfer of social security payments from employers to employees. The Culture Ministry announced in a news release that several meetings have been held recently with trade unions in the sector, and solutions to their problems are being searched for. The protests came ahead of the 14th edition of the famous Long Night of Museums, in which 180 museums and partner organisations in Romania are taking part. In Bucharest, taking part in the event are the National Art Museum of Romania, the National History Museum, the George Enescu National Museum, the Grigore Antipa Natural History Museum, and the Romanian Peasant Museum. Exhibitions, concerts and film screenings have been put together, for all ages and for all tastes.





    ROYAL WEDDING – The historical city of Windsor, near London, Saturday hosted the wedding of Price Harry of Wales, grandson to Queen Elizabeth II of the UK, with his fiancée, the 36 year old American actress Meghan Markle. The official ceremony combined the elegance of the royal protocol with the glamour of Hollywood events. Thousands of people gathered on Saturday morning in the usually quiet town, to celebrate the princely couple. Buckingham Palace previously announced that Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain granted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle the title of Duke and Duchess of Sussex.




    DIASPORA – The second regional consular meeting in the campaign entitled “2018 Dialogue with the Diaspora on consular topics ended in Rome on Saturday. According to a news release issued by the Romanian Foreign Ministry in Bucharest, taking part in the event were representatives of the Romanian diplomatic missions and consular offices in Italy, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, the Republic of Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Switzerland, Montenegro and Israel. Talks focused on topics related to consular activities, particularly the handling of the situations that require the activation of the Foreign Ministry Crisis Response Task Force, as well as the use of the IT systems that are part of the E-Cons integrated platform, which currently services the entire consular network of the Romanian Foreign Ministry.




    CHISINAU – The Republic of Moldova Sunday holds the first round of early elections for the mayors of capital city Chisinau and the second-largest Moldovan town of Balti, in the north. The posts have been vacant since the resignation of the mayors elected in June 2015, namely the pro-European Liberal Dorin Chirtoaca in Chisinau and the pro-Russian populist Renato Usatii in Balti. Both officials claimed the trials were political shams. These early elections are seen as a test for this autumns parliamentary election. Analysts quoted by Radio Romania correspondents, say Sundays vote for a new mayor of Chisinau, where one-third of the countrys population lives and which generates half of Moldovas GDP, is also important in geo-political terms, given the competition between pro-Russian and pro-European politicians in this country.




    FUNERALS – The funerals of the great Romanian film director Lucian Pintilie were held in Bucharest on Saturday. Pintilie died on Wednesday at the age of 84. His staging of the Inspector General (1972), as well as his films The Reconstruction and For Whom the Bell Tolls, Mitică, were banned by the communist censorship. In 1973, he left for Paris, where he continued his career. After the fall of communism, he returned to Romania and made a series of films, mostly Romanian-French co-productions, one of which, “Too Late (1996), was included in the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival.




    CONFERENCE – Former East-European political leaders pleaded in Bucharest on Saturday for dialogue as a means to promote security in the Korean Peninsula. Chairing the meeting designed to support a peaceful reunification of Korea, Emil Constantinescu, president of Romania in 1996-2000, emphasised the importance of cultural diplomacy between the 2 countries. The ex-president of Albania, Rexhep Meidani, believes recent developments to be encouraging, including the prospective meeting of the US President Donald Trump with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. Also attending the conference in Bucharest are, among others, the former presidents of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, of Belarus, Stanislav Shushkevich, and of Croatia, Stjepan Mesic.




    HANDBALL – The Romanian mens handball team AHC Potaissa of Turda (in north-western Romania) Sunday faces the Greek side AEK Athens, away from home, in the decisive leg of the Challenge Cup final. On Monday, the Romanians won the first leg, at home, 33-22. According to commentators, Potaissa, which last year lost the final of the same competition to Sporting Lisbon, is a step away from winning the trophy. At the end of last week, the Romanian womens team SCM Craiova won the EHF Cup final, defeating the Norwegian side Vipers Kristiansand, while Romanian champions, CSM Bucharest, won the bronze in the so-called Champions League Final Four in Budapest.

    Romanias President, Klaus Iohannnis, at the Sofia summit


    The latest evolutions related to the US decision to withdraw from Iranian nuclear deal have been on the agenda of talks at the informal meeting of the European Council in Sofia, which also hosted the EU-Western Balkans Summit, the first of its kind in the past 15 years. The European perspective of the six countries in the Western Balkans has been confirmed and they have been promised some 10 billion Euro worth of assistance for energy projects and infrastructure investments. Romanias President, Klaus Iohannis, has underlined in Sofia the importance of projects in such domains as connectivity, infrastructure, energy and digital networks to enhance the convergence between the EU and the Western Balkans region, also by giving an impetus to macro-regional strategies, such as the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. Romanias President has also recalled that our country will host, in 2019, the Sibiu Summit on the future of Europe and he underlined that a strong and united Union will also serve as a strong anchor for the Western Balkans, in their effort to reform and develop themselves.



    Croatian Prime Minister Andrei Plenkovici, on a visit to Bucharest


    Romanian PM Viorica Dăncilă and her Croatian counterpart, Andrei Plenkovici, signed in Bucharest on Friday a declaration of intent between the two governments on boosting bilateral cooperation in the field of defence and security. Viorica Dăncilă has said that other domains of bilateral cooperation will further be education, agriculture and tourism. In turn, the Croatian PM has hailed the stage of bilateral relations in recent times, which he described as very good, as well as trade exchanges, which exceeded 300 million Euros. The Croatian Prime Minister has also had official talks with president Klaus Iohannis.



    The relocation of the Romanian Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, in the focus of attention of the Bucharest authorities


    The Romanian Foreign Ministry has taken note of the decision made by the Ramallah authorities to urgently recall the Palestinian ambassador to Bucharest for consultations and underline the need to avoid any actions which might compromise the peace process. The Romanian Foreign Ministry says solid political dialogue is needed and reiterates Romanias principled position, namely a two state solution, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security. The Foreign Ministry of the Palestinian Authority has recalled its ambassador to Bucharest in the context in which Romania was one of the countries which blocked the EUs joint declaration on the relocation by the EU member states of their diplomatic missions from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The issue of relocating the embassy has been approached by president Klaus Iohannis and PM Viorica Dăncilă. The head of state has underlined that it is mandatory for Romanias foreign policy to be pursued solely in the interest of the country, and domestic tensions on foreign policy issues should immediately come to an end. In turn, Viorica Dăncilă has said that in her capacity as head of the government, her main responsibility is to implement the governing program, including the chapter devoted to foreign policy. In the same line, the president of the National Liberal Party (in opposition), Ludovic Orban, has filed a criminal complaint against PM Viorica Dăncilă and the leader of the Social Democratic Party, Liviu Dragnea, whom he accused of high treason and the disclosure of state secret information, respectively.



    New measures to boost investments in the Romanian economy


    The Romanian Government is soon to adopt new measures to boost major investments in the Romanian economy, PM Viorica Dăncilă has said. She announced that this year the government aims to increase the level of foreign investments to one billion Euros. Romanias economic growth in the first quarter of the year standing at 4.2%, is the fifth largest in the EU, the double of the community average, deputy PM Viorel Stefan has announced. He explained that the governments intention is to make investments the main engine of development. In another move, larger amounts of money will go to the state budget for investments and better public services, Viorel Ştefan has said.



    Sports journalist and commentator Cristian Ţopescu and theatre and film director, Lucian Pintilie, have passed away


    Athletes, coaches, sports commentators, actors and common people alike paid their respects to the late Romanian sports commentator Cristian Ţopescu, who passed away on Tuesday, at 81 years of age, in a Bucharest hospital. In his long career in the public television, where he made his debut as a reporter, back in 1967, Cristian Topescu made over 5,000 live transmissions, from the Olympic Games, World and European Championships. In token of appreciation for his activity, he received the “Star of Romania National Order in rank of Knight, and the title of Citizen of Honour of the City of Bucharest.


    Another outstanding personality, Romanian theatre and film director Lucian Pintilie, passed away on Wednesday at 84 years of age. During his career, he was praised mainly for his critical view of the world, an exquisite, daring and sarcastic style. He staged anthological shows, such as Cherry Orchard (1967) or Inspector General (1972), forbidden by the communist censorship after the third performance. Lucian Pintilie made memorable films such as The Reconstruction; For Whom the Bell Tolls Mitică, films that were also banned during the communist period. In 1973, he left for Paris, where he continued his career, also staging remarkable shows in Germany, the UK and the US. After the fall of communism, he returned to Romania and made a series of films, among whom The Oak (1992), An Unforgettable Summer (1994) and “Too Late (1996), all of them being included in the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival.

    Héros – Aujourd’hui, les orthodoxes et les catholiques de rite grec marquent l’Ascension, fête célébrée quarante jours après Pâques. Il s’agit de la dernière rencontre de Jésus avec ses disciples après sa Résurrection, son élévation au ciel. Depuis 1920, le jour de l’Ascension marque aussi la commémoration des héros en Roumanie. A Buzau (dans le sud-est), une cérémonie de ré-inauguration du cimetière militaire où sont inhumés quelque 10 mille héros de plusieurs pays. Cet événement, déroulé sous l’égide du Centenaire de la Grande Union, a réuni responsables politiques, ambassadeurs et attachés militaires européens. Les autorités de Bucarest ont exprimé leur gratitude et leur respect pour ceux qui, par le sacrifice suprême, ont défendu la liberté, l’intégrité et la dignité du pays et du peuple roumain. Selon eux, c’est aux héros roumains que nous devons aussi l’appréciation dont bénéficie la Roumanie de la part de ses partenaires étrangers. L’armée roumaine est actuellement engagée dans différentes missions aux côtés d’alliés au sein de l’OTAN, mais aussi dans le cadre de missions coordonnées par l’UE, l’OSCE et l’ONU dans des régions du monde à haut risque, a rappelé à cette occasion la cheffe de l’exécutif de Bucarest, Mme Viorica Dancila.

    Pintilie – Le metteur en scène et cinéaste roumain, Lucian Pintilie est décédé mercredi dans la soirée dans un hôpital de Bucarest. L’artiste était âgé de 84 ans. Tout le long de sa carrière, Lucian Pintilie s’est fait remarquer par une vision critique du monde exprimée dans un style courageux, inédit et sarcastique. Aux côtés de Liviu Ciulei il a été un des fondateurs du théâtre Bulandra de la Capitale, où il a mis en scène des spectacles mémorables dont le « Réviseur » en 1972, spectacle interdit par la censure communiste après sa troisième représentation. C’est un sort qu’avait partagé aussi le deuxième long-métrage de la carrière du réputé réalisateur « Reconstituirea » / « La reconstitution » de 1971, chef d’œuvre du cinéma roumain. Le film raconte l’histoire absurde de la reconstitution d’un incident banal, une bagarre, entreprise par la milice qui se transforme en meurtre. Après le scandale de l’interdiction de la pièce « Le réviseur », Lucian Pintilie a quitté la Roumanie pour s’installer à Paris et y continuer sa carrière dans le théâtre et l’opéra. En 1979, il a tourné en Roumanie le film « Scènes de carnaval » dont le scénario reposait sur les comédies du dramaturge classique roumaine Ion Luca Caragiale, film également interdit pendant une bonne dizaine d’années. Lucian Pintilie est rentré en Roumanie après la chute du communisme pour tourner une série de co-productions roumano-françaises, toutes ancrées dans un contexte politique est social particulier.

    Sofia – La connectivité de l’infrastructure, l’énergie et les réseaux numériques figurent parmi les thèmes évoqués aujourd’hui à Sofia dans le cadre du Sommet UE – Balkans occidentaux, auquel participe aussi le président roumain Klaus Iohannis. Au cours de la première session de travail du Sommet, le président roumain soulignera l’importance des projets dans le domaine de la connectivité, vu qu’ils ont la capacité de renforcer la convergence entre l’UE et la région des Balkans occidentaux. M Iohannis insistera également l’importance d’accorder une attention particulière aux stratégies régionales. Il plaidera aussi en faveur d’une attention accrue au renforcement de l’Etat de droit et de la lutte contre la corruption ainsi qu’aux investissements dans l’éducation, en tant que moyen efficace à long terme pour créer un espace commun de sécurité.

    Mazare – L’ex maire
    social-démocrate de la ville de Constanta, sud-est, sur la côte de la Mer
    Noire, Radu Mazare, a été condamné à 6 ans et 6 mois de prison ferme dans un
    dossier instruit par la Direction nationale anticorruption. Selon le parquet
    anticorruption, il aurait permis la vente de terrains à des prix sous-évalués
    dans la station littorale de Mamaia. La décision n’est pas définitive et elle
    peut être attaquée. Ce n’est pas l’unique dossier qui vise l’ex édile. Fin
    décembre, lorsqu’il était placé sous contrôle judiciaire, Radu Mazare a quitté
    le pays pour s’établir à Madagascar, où il a reçu le droit au séjour
    temporaire.

    Moldova – La commissaire européenne à la politique régionale, Corina Cretu entame aujourd’hui une visite de cinq jours en République de Moldova, afin d’appuyer le développent régional et la croissance économique de ce pays. Corina Creţu rencontrera à Chisinau le premier ministre Pavel Filip, le ministre de l’agriculture, de l’environnement et du développement rural, Liviu Volconovici et le vice premier ministre en charge de l’intégration européenne, Iurie Leanca. La commissaire européenne rencontrera également des représentants de la société civile, des partis politiques et des hommes d’affaires. Samedi, Corina Cretu se rendra à Ungheni, localité inscrite au programme Villages européens 2018, dont les habitants seront informés sur l’appui accordé par l’UE à la République de Moldova par le biais des projets déroulés avec des fonds européens.

    Justice – La Haute cour de Cassation et de Justice de Bucarest a rejeté aujourd’hui la demande d’une ONG d’instituer un séquestre sur le patrimoine des personnes figurant dans le dossier de la descente des mineurs sur Bucarest du 13 au 15 juin 1990. Dans ce dossier, l’ancien président Ion Iliescu, l’ex premier ministre Petre Roman et l’ancien directeur du Service roumain de renseignements Virgil Magureanu sont accusés de crimes contre l’Humanité pour leur participation à la répression des protestations contre le pouvoir de gauche installé après la chute de la dictature communiste en décembre 1989. Sur toile de fond d’incidents violents dans la Capitale, que l’armée avait réussi à réprimer, le président Iliescu a invoqué une tentative de putsch de l’extrême droite et demandé à la population de défendre les institutions démocratiques. La descente des mineurs de la Valée du Jiu sur Bucarest, où ils ont attaqué l’Université, les sièges des partis d’opposition et les rédactions de plusieurs journaux indépendants, a fait quatre morts et des centaines de blessés. Un millier de personnes ont été abusivement arrêtées. L’image de la Roumanie a été fortement touchée par les violences de juin 1990.

    Tennis – La joueuse roumaine de tennis, Simona Halep, numéro I au classement WTA, rencontre ce jeudi, Madison Keys des Etats-Unis, tête de série n° 13, dans les huitièmes de finale du tournoi WTA de Rome. Halep avait éliminé mercredi la Japonaise Naomi Osaka, n° 21 WTA, score 6-1,6-0, au deuxième tour de la compétition, alors que Madison Keys avait gagné, toujours en deux sets, 7-6,7-6, face à la Croate Donna Vekic. En cas de défaite, Simona Halep perd la première place du classement WTA.

    Ab Sonntag zieht eine Kältewelle über Rumänien, die bis zum 1. März dauern sollte. Das rumänische Wetteramt hat eine Wetterwarnung Stufe Orange wegen Extremkälte, Wind und Schnee-verwehungen für 27 Landkreisen und für die Hauptstadt Bukarest ausgerufen. Die Tiefstwerte könnten bis auf -22 Grad C sinken. Die Höchstwerte werden um 10 bis 15 Grad niedriger als die normalen Werte für diese Jahreszeit — sie werden zwischen –12 und –2 Grad C erreichen. Der heftigen Wind verursacht au‎ßerdem den sog. Wind-Chill”, ein gesteigertes Kälteempfinden. Wegen Extremkälte und Schneeverwehungen bleiben die Bukarester Schulen am Montag und Dienstag geschlossen.



    Tausende Rumänen haben am Sonntag abend in der Hauptstadt Bukarest und in mehreren rumänischen Gro‎ßstädten gegen die Sozialdemokratische Partei PSD (die wichtigste Partei der Regierungskoalition) und gegen den Justizminister Tudorel Toader protestiert. Es war der vierte Abend in der Reihe, an dem die Rumänen auf die Stra‎ße gingen, nachdem der Justizminister Tudorel Toader das Verfahren zur Amtsenthebung der Leiterin der Antikorruptionsbehörde, Laura Codruţa , beantragt hatte. Der Antrag wurde dem Obersten Rat der Richter und Staatsanwälte zur beratenden Stellungnahme vorgelegt. Justizminister Toader erhob zum Teil schwere Vorwürfe gegen Kövesi – er sprach über Handlungen und Taten, die in einem Rechtsstaat nicht zu tolerieren seien. Kövesi habe Druck auf die Regierung ausgeübt, die Arbeit ihrer Dezernenten nicht überprüft und Verfahren verzögert, sagte der Minister. Auch Interviews mit den westlichen Medien seien ihr vorzuwerfen, die dem Ansehen Rumäniens geschadet haben, kritisierte der Minister ferner: Die Chefanklägerin der Antikorruptionsbehörde hat die DNA selbst gefährdet, durch autoritäre Exzesse, willkürliches Handeln, durch ein herausforderndes Verhalten gegenüber dem Parlament, die Missachtung der Regierung und ihrer Rolle sowie die Verunglimpfung von Entscheidungen des Verfassunsggerichts, so der Minister. Die Entlassung liegt allerdings in der Zuständigkeit des Staatschefs, der eine Stellungnahme des Rates der Richter und Staatsanwälte abwarten muss. Präsident Iohannis fand allerdings die Kritik des Ministers unklar und kaum überzeugend – sein Anliegen bleibt, hei‎ßt es in einer Verlautbarung, die Unabhängigkeit der Justiz und die Stärkung des Rechtstaats; dafür gedenke er alle Befugnisse einzusetzen. Auch Kövesis direkter Vorgesetzer, Generalstaatsanwalt Augustin Lazăr, konnte keinen rechtmä‎ßigen Grund für ihre Entlassung erkennen. Allein die Regierungspartei PSD fand den Bericht des Ministers fundiert. Die Opposition sieht hinter dem Antrag des Ministers nur einen Versuch korrupter Politiker, straffrei auszugehen.



    Die rumänische Premierministerin Viorica Dancila unternimmt am Dienstag einen offiziellen Besuch in Kischinew. Auf der Agenda stehen Gespräche mit ihrem moldauischen Gegenüber, Petru Filip, über die Verstärkung der Kooperation zwischen den zwei Regierungen. Die Tatsache, dass die neue rumänische Ministerpräsidentin ihren ersten Auslandsbesuch in Kischinew unternimmt, gibt ein klares Signal über die prioritäre Beziehung zwischen Rumänien und der benachbarten, mehrheitlich rumänischen, ex-sowjetischen Republik Moldawien, erklärte der Au‎ßenminister Teodor Melescanu. Im Rahmen des Besuches werden ein Vertrag über den Bau einer Erdgas-Pipeline von Iasi-Ungheni bis Kischinew und ein Protokoll über die kulturelle Zusammenarbeit zwischen Rumänien und der Republik Moldawien unterzeichnet, sagte noch der rumänische Au‎ßenminister.



    Der rumänische Au‎ßenminister, Teodor Melescanu, beteiligt sich am Dienstag am Jahrestreffen des EU-Rates für Auswärtige Angelegenheiten. Die EU-Au‎ßenminister werden vor allem die Situation in der Republik Moldawien, in Venezuela und im Nahen Osten besprechen. Andererseits werden Rumänien und Frankreich das 12. Treffen der EU-Aktionsgruppe der Republik Moldawien organisieren. Der moldawische Au‎ßenminister, Tudor Ulianovski, wurde auch eingeladen, am besagten Treffen teilzunehmen, steht in einem Communique des rumänischen Au‎ßenministeriums.



    Das Gesetzesprojekt über die Einrichtung eines Souveränen Fonds für Entwicklung und Investitionen wird ab nächste Woche in den Fachausschüssen des rumänischen Senats besprochen. Geplant wurde der Fonds als Finanzierungsinstrument für strategische Projekte für die Entwicklung von wichtigen Bereichen wie Infrastruktur, Energie, Gesundheit, Landwirtschaft. Durch den Souveränen Fonds für Entwicklung und Investitionen, der nach Modellen in Norwegen, Frankreich und Polen geplant wurde, sollten au‎ßerdem neue Arbeitsplätze entstehen. Während der gesamten Funktionierung des Fonds wird der rumänische Staat einziger Aktienhalter; das Finanzministerium übernimmt die Verwaltung. Laut Projekt wird der Fonds durch die Übernahme der Aktien des rumänischen Staates in 89 Unternehmen gebildet. Die dazugehörenden Dividenden werden nicht mehr in den Staatshaushalt, sondern in den Souveränen Fonds für Entwicklung und Investitionen einflie‎ßen.



    Bei der 68. Auflage der Berlinale ging der Goldene Bär an den Experimentalfilm Nu ma atinge-ma“ “Touch Me Not” aus Rumänien. In dem Streifen von Regisseurin Adina Pintilie “in dem die Grenzen zwischen Fiktion und Realität verschwimmen”, geht es um Intimität. Im Berlinale-Programm hie‎ß es über den Film: Er “untersucht, wie wir Intimität auf unvermutete Art und Weise erleben und uns gegenseitig lieben können, ohne uns selbst zu verlieren”. Für denselben Film erhielt Adina Pintilie am Samstag abend auch den Preis für den besten Debütfilm. Touch Me Not“ ist eine europäische Koproduktion mit Profischauspielern und Laiendarstellern. Es ist das zweite Mal, dass ein rumänischer Regisseur, bzw. eine rumänische Regisseurin, auf der Berlinale mit dem Gro‎ßen Preis ausgezeichnet wird. 2013 erhielt der Rumäne Calin Peter Netzer einen Goldenen Bären für seinen Spielfilm Pozitia copilului“ Die Stellung des Kindes“.

    Dans le top réalisé en 2008 par les plus importants critiques roumains de film, « La Reconstitution » de Lucian Pintilie était classé meilleur film roumain de tous les temps. Pintilie portait à l’écran, en 1968, le récit homonyme de Horia Pătraşcu, reposant sur un fait réel : deux adolescents qui fêtent la fin de leurs études s’enivrent et se bagarrent. Ils sont arrêtés par la police et la justice leur promet l’impunité à condition qu’ils se livrent à une reconstitution de leur bagarre, pour le tournage d’un petit film éducatif, censé combattre l’ivrognerie et la violence parmi les jeunes.

    Les conséquences de cette reconstitution sont pourtant dramatiques. Peu de temps après sa sortie, le film est interdit par le régime communiste et relancé à peine en 1990, après la chute du communisme. Interdit de tourner des films, le réalisateur se voit également interdire toute activité théâtrale, suite au spectacle « Le Réviseur », qu’il avait mis en scène au théâtre Bulandra de Bucarest. En se rapportant à la destinée de l’artiste, le critique George Banu estimait que – Lucian Pintilie est le protagoniste du scandale implosif le plus retentissant de Roumanie. » « Le scandale implosif est fortement personnalisé. Le scandale explosif est collectif. Celui qui est implosif écrase l’être humain. »

    N’ayant plus le droit d’avoir une activité artistique en Roumanie, Lucian Pintilie quitte le pays en 1973. Il continue à l’étranger la série des spectacles de théâtre, montés sur quelques scènes importantes, dont le Théâtre national de Chaillot et le Théâtre de la Ville de Paris. Parallèlement, il met en scène des spectacles d’opéra : Orestia au Festival d’Avignon (en 1979), La Flûte enchantée au Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (en 1980, spectacle repris à l’Opéra de Lyon, à l’opéra de Nice et au Teatro Regio de Turin. S’y ajoutent Rigoletto au Welsh National Opera de Cardiff (en 1985) et Carmen en 1986, à Vancouver.

    En 1979, Lucian Pintilie allait tourner en Roumanie le film « Mitică, pourquoi les cloches sonnent-elles? », dont il signe le scénario et qui allait être interdit pendant une dizaine d’années. Il revient en Roumanie en 1990, après la chute du communisme, et réalise plusieurs films : Le Chêne (1992), Un Eté inoubliable (1994), Trop tard (1996), Terminus Paradis (1998), L’Après-midi d’un tortionnaire (2000), Niki et Flo (2003), Tertium non datur (2006).Lucian Pintilie se rappelle son enfance dans le volume « Bricabrac », dont l’édition revue et augmentée est récemment parue aux Maisons d’édition Nemira, dans la collection Yorick des arts du spectacle. Rappelons qu’en 2010, « Bricabrac » a été désigné meilleur livre étranger par le Syndicat des critiques de cinéma de France. Lucian Pintilie raconte : « Je suis né dans une Roumanie monarchique, dans le sud de la Bessarabie, qui fait aujourd’hui partie de l’Ukraine, dans un village allemand, dans une région qui était une véritable mosaïque ethnique : Roumains, Ruthènes, Gagaouzes, Turcs, Tatars, Juifs et, bien sûr, Ukrainiens et Russes. Même pas l’ombre d’une tension ethnique ne trouble l’image harmonieuse de ces temps-là. Les gens vivaient ensemble, sans être conscients de leurs différences. Ils vivaient – pour très peu de temps, hélas – dans l’ombre de l’Histoire, dans un vide paradisiaque. Lorsque j’ai quitté la Bessarabie, encore enfant, je parlais une langue hallucinante, une sorte d’espéranto, un mélange de langues qui exaspérait et charmait tout le monde. La guerre éclata, j’ai oublié les mots exotiques, le Paradis avait disparu, sur le sud de la Bessarabie commençait à souffler le vent fou de l’histoire. En une seule nuit, les gens sont devenus conscients de leurs différences. Et cette conscience de la différence est le premier pas vers le nettoyage ethnique. »

    Victor Rebengiuc, Andrei Şerban, Cristi Puiu et Corneliu Porumboiu ont compté parmi les personnalités ayant participé, aux côtés de Lucian Pintilie, au lancement de la nouvelle édition du volume « Bricabrac ». Le metteur en scène Andrei Şerban a passé en revue à cette occasion, sous la forme d’une lettre ouverte, les spectacles de théâtre de Lucian Pintilie qui l’avaient marqué et les expériences vécues ensemble. Par son exemple – affirme Andrei Şerban – Lucian Pintilie lui a insufflé un courage énorme, en lui montrant que dans le théâtre on peut tout faire : « En plein communisme, tu as osé prouver que toute forme de censure, toute intervention contre l’art, l’artiste et la liberté d’expression est odieusement dégoûtante. Tu m’as fait comprendre que dans le théâtre du moins, nous ne pouvons pas être seuls, nous avons besoin les uns de autres. Pour montrer dans un miroir une image vaste du monde où nous vivons, nous devons tâcher de dire la vérité, nous devons rechercher la qualité, nous entourer de talents, de grands comédiens, qui soient à la fois intelligents, sensibles et conscients de leur mission. Je ne connais personne d’autre qui ait utilisé la satire et le rire au nom d’un besoin profond de révolutionner l’art, de lui donner un sens, de le tirer de sa léthargie, de sa passivité, et de lui donner de la vigueur. Tu as prouvé que, dans une société viciée par le théâtre on peut briser les tabous, on peut exposer publiquement les mensonges inventés par les hommes politiques. »

    Le livre « Bricabrac » a été conçu sans projet précis – amas d’objets sans valeur, usés et démodés, mais imprégnés par le temps, des fragments imprégnés, des papiers, énormément de documents, une guerre aux papiers. Ce volume réunit des confessions, des notes de mise en scène, des chroniques de différents spectacles et films parues dans la presse internationale, un livre-spectacle sur la scène duquel est projetée l’histoire des grands spectacles et films de Lucian Pintilie, l’histoire tumultueuse du Réviseur, de La Mouette, du Salon n° 6, de la Reconstitution.
