    Romania’s national rugby team took on Italy in a test match this past
    Sunday in Bucharest. Romanians were buoyant for the early start of the game. Romania’
    s Florin Vlaicu even successfully scored from two penalty kicks. However, the Oak
    Leaf Knights ran out of steam, physically, were overpowered, and the Italians emerged
    in control of the game completely. The latter team eventually trounced Romania,
    45 to 13. In the coming preparation stage, the Romanian national squad will travel to South America, with two test matches on schedule. Romania faces Uruguay in Montevideo, on July 10 and 17.


    Romanian
    heavyweight boxer Cristian Ciocan this past Saturday wasted the opportunity to
    win the WBO International and the WBC Silver belts. In the fourth round of the
    match against British challenger Joe Joyce, Ciocan sustained a defeat by
    knock-out. 34-year-old Ciocan is a German resident and competes as Christian
    Hammer. It was Cristian Ciocan’s 10th defeat as a pro. The Romanian-born boxer’s
    record includes 27 wins, of which 17 through knockout. 36-year-old Joe Joyce succeeded
    his 14th win. The British boxer boasts a win-all record so far.


    At the
    European Open in Cluj-Napoca this past weekend, Romanian judokas won 11 medals, of
    which two gold, four silver and five bronze. Stepping onto the first step of
    the podium on Saturday was Florentina Ivanescu in the 63-kilogram category. Then
    on Sunday, in 100-kilogram category, Cuban-born judoka Asley Gonzalez also won gold.


    The European
    International Juniors’ Swimming Championships kick-off this coming Tuesday in
    Otopeni, nearby Bucharest., with 1,600 swimmers of 42 countries participating. For Romania, 14
    swimmers compete in the women’s version of the event, while 12 other prove
    their mettle in the men’s version of the championships. Star swimmer David Popovici
    will be among the participants. We recall Popovici walked away with gold in the
    100m and 200m freestyle events as part of the recently-held World Seniors’
    Championships in Budapest.

    from football, Romanian title holders CFR Cluj this coming Tuesday play their
    debut fixture as part of the Champions League’s first preliminary round, taking
    on Armenian champions Piunk Yerevan away from home. The return leg
    is scheduled in Cluj-Napoca on July 13. Until then, CFR Cluj will be playing a domestic
    opener against Sepsi Sfantu-Gheorghe, counting towards Romania’s Supercup. We
    recall Sepsi are this year’s winners of Romania’s Cup in football.

    The weekend’s main sporting

    Cluj against Universitatea Craiova, holder of Romania’s Cup in football. The
    game is to take place on the National Arena in Bucharest, Romania’s largest
    stadium, recently refurbished for the European Football Championship.




    This is going to be the
    second game pitching the two sides against one another in the aforementioned
    competition after the one in 2018, when CFR won the game 1-0 on Craiova’s turf.
    The match in Bucharest is going to be CFR’s eighth participation in Romania’s
    Supercup and the fourth in a row after winning the League four consecutive
    times between 2018 and 2021. Universitatea Craiova are going to have their
    second participation in the competition after the one in 2018, as winners of
    Romania’s Cup.






    CFR Cluj come to Bucharest
    after a successful debut in the European cups. On Tuesday they clinched a 3-1
    win against Bosnian side Borac Banja Luka in the first round of the Champions
    League’s preliminary leg. French Billel Omrani, Ciprian Chiriac and Runar Mar
    Sigurjonsson of Iceland scored for the Romanian champions.






    The football season in

    Romanian Cup winners FCSB, 4-1, after the penalty shootouts. The scoreboard
    displayed a blank draw after regular time. CFR had the upper hand all
    throughout the game, yet their failed to score. Penalty shootouts saw Mario Rondon, Adrian Păun, Alexandru Chipciu and
    Mario Camora scoring. FCSB’s Risto Radunovic. scored the only goal for his
    team. The ball shot by Ovidiu Perianu hit the crossbar, while the ball shot by Adrian
    Şut was deflected by CFR’s keeper Giedrius Arlauskis. CFR have therefore won
    Romania’s Supercup for the fourth time, a trophy they won in 2009, 2010 and 2018.
    FCSB won six editions of the Supercup, being defeated in the Supercup final
    also six times.


    Matches counting towards
    Group 1 and Group 2 stages of the domestic League One in football are scheduled
    at the weekend. In Group 1 on Saturday, Universitatea Craiova play a home game
    against Sepsi Sfantu Gheorghe. On Sunday, CFR Cluj take on Academica Clinceni
    at home, while in Giurgiu, in the south, FCSB play FC Botosani. FCSB are at the
    top of the table, with 33 points. Following are CFR Cluj, with 32 and
    Universitatea Craiova, with 29 points.


    In Group 2, on Friday, UTA
    Arad face Viitorul Constanţa, while Astra Giurgiu are pitted against Dinamo Bucharest.

    Das rumänische Finanzministerium hat heute Staatsanleihen für die Bevölkerung herausgegeben, die Teil eines Staatskasseprogramms sind und je nach Fälligkeit zwischen 3,5% und 5% pro Jahr verzinst werden. Nach Angaben des Ministeriums beträgt die Verzinsung 3,50% für Anleihen mit einer Laufzeit von einem Jahr, während diejenigen mit einer Laufzeit von zwei Jahren einen Zinssatz von 4% haben. Eine Laufzeit von 5 Jahren bedeutet einen Zinssatz von 5% und die Subskription kann bis zum 31. Juli 2019 erfolgen. Einnahmen, die Einzelpersonen durch die Subskription und Kauf von Staatspapieren erzielen, werden nicht besteuert. Seit Februar dieses Jahres emittiert das Ministerium monatlich Staatsanleihen für die Bevölkerung mit Zinssätzen zwischen 3,5% und 5% pro Jahr.



    Die Republik Moldau will mit der NATO zusammenarbeiten, um ihr eigenes Verteidigungssystem zu verbessern. Das sagte die neue Premierministerin des Landes, Maia Sandu, dem Generalsekretär der Allianz, Jens Stoltenberg, in Brüssel. Umfragen zufolge wird der Beitritt der Republik Moldau zur NATO nur von 20% der Bevölkerung unterstützt, während 60% dagegen sind.     Im südrumänischen Ploiesti treffen sich die rumänischen Fu‎ßballmeister CFR Cluj und Viitorul Constanta, Gewinner des rumänischen Pokals, zum Supercup am Samstagabend. CFR hat in diesem Jahr seinen fünften Meisterschaftstitel errungen, der gleichzeitig der zweite in Folge ist, während Viitorul seine erste Cup-Trophäe gewonnen hat. In diesem Monat werden die beiden Mannschaften Rumänien in den Vorrunden der Europapokale vertreten: In der Champions League tritt CFR gegen den kasachischen FC Astana an, während Viitorul in der Europa League gegen die belgische Mannschaft Anvers antreten wird, die vom ehemaligen rumänischen Nationalspieler Ladislau Boloni betreut wird. In der Europa League spielt FCSB, ehemals Steaua Bukarest, gegen Milsami Orhei aus der benachbarten Republik Moldau, während CSU Craiova auf FK Sabail aus Aserbaidschan trifft.



    Die Stadt Constanta an der rumänischen Schwarzmeerküste veranstaltet das Neversea Festival, das grö‎ßte Musikfestival Europas, das an einem Strand stattfindet. 150 berühmte Künstler werden vier Tage lang am Modern Beach vor rund 200.000 Zuschauern auftreten. Auf der Gästeliste stehen Afrojack, G-Eazy, Jessy J, DJ Snake, Sean Paul, Lost Frequency, Kadebostany, Salvatore Ganacci und Dub FX. Um den reibungslosen Ablauf der Veranstaltung zu gewährleisten, wurden besondere Sicherheitsma‎ßnahmen getroffen. Das Budget des Festivals beläuft sich in diesem Jahr auf rund 9 Millionen Euro.



    In Rumänien bleibt das Wetter auch morgen warm, wechselhaft, bewölkt. Die Tageshöchsttemperaturen werden am Sonnabend zwischen 26 und 34 Grad liegen.

    As usual, the opener is Romania’s Supercup fixture as in Cluj on Saturday, winner of domestic League One championship’s previous edition Astra Giurgiu are pitted against Romanian Cup holders CFR Cluj.



    The League Cup final on Sunday will see Steaua Bucharest taking on Concordia Chajna. Steaua are on a training stage in the Netherlands and will return to Bucharest one day before the final. The League Cup final is officially scheduled for the spring, but it was delayed because of the national squad’ busy schedule prior to EURO 2016.



    The drawing of lots was held this week, for the timetable of League One’s regular rounds. The first round is scheduled late next week. Headline-hitting is the fixture in Giurgiu, pitting local side Astra and Dinamo Bucharest. No less interesting is Oltenia’s derby, pitting Pandurii Targu Jiu against CSU Craiova. In Cluj, CFR take on southern Romanian team Concordia Chiajna.



    FC Voluntari face Viitorul Constanta on home turf and also on home turf, Steaua Bucharest take on western Romanian opponents CSMS Iasi, while in Medias, western Romania, the local side, Gaz Metan take on ASA Targu Mures. The fixture pitting Rapid Bucharest against FC Botosani was supposed to be played this week, yet the General Assembly of Professional Football League on July 20th will rule if Rapid are officially accepted to play in League One’s 2016-2017 edition. Also on July 20th the motion to suspend bankruptcy proceedings for Rapid Football Club is to be decided upon.

Es sei nicht ausgeschlossen, dass demnächt das Bukarester Aussenministerium die rumänischen Staatsbürger im Gaza-Streifen auffordert, die Region umgehend zu verlassen. Das Bukarester Aussenministerium hat zudem eine kostenlose Telefonnummer eingerichtet, unter der Angehörige rumänischer Staatbürger die sich derzeit in der vom bewaffneten Konflikt betroffenen Region befinden, für Informationen anrufen können. Es wird zudem von nicht notwendigen Reisen in Israel und die palästinensischen Autonimiegebiete abgeraten, so das Bukarester Aussenministerium.






    Zagreb: Aussenminister Titus Corlăţean beteiligt in Dubrovnik an der internationalen Tagung Kroatien Forum, zum Thema: die europäische Integration der Westbalkanstaaten. An der Tagung nehmen europäische Würdenträger, EU-Aussenminister sowie Aussenminister der Staaten teil, die im Mittelpunkt der EU-Erweiterungspolitik stehen, zusammen mit Gästen aus China, Japan, Neuseeland und aus den USA.





    Bukarest: Eine Nichtregierungsorganisation die sich für die Rechte der Roma-Minderheit in Rumänien einsetzt hat beim Nationalen Rat für Bekämpfung der Diskriminierung (CNCD) eine Beschwerde gegen Staatschef Traian Băsescu eingereicht. Die Nichtregierungsorganisation wirft dem Präsidenten rassistische Angriffe auf Roma vor. Der Organisation ”Romani Criss” zufolge habe der rumänische Staatschef neulich erklärt, die Roma-Clans würden sowohl den Schutz der politischen Klasse, als auch der befugten öffentlichen Institutionen im Bereich der Kriminalitätsbekämpfung genie‎ßen. Die Nichtregierungsorganisation betonte ferner, es sei nicht das erste Mal wenn sie eine Beschwerde beim Nationalen Rat für Bekämpfung der Diskriminierung gegen den rumänischen Staatschef vorbringe.






    Sport: Das Fu‎ßballteam Astra Giurgiu hat den Supercup Rumäniens gewonnen. Freitag Abend setzte sich Astra beim Elfmeterschie‎ßen 5 zu 3 gegen den amtierenden Meister Steaua Bukarest durch. Das Spiel in der Bukarester Nationalarena fand kurz vor Beginn der internen Meisterschaft statt, der für Ende Juli geplant wird.
