    Echipele române de handbal feminin care evoluează în Cupa EHF au avut, în weekend, rezultate sub aşteptări. Sâmbătă, în grupa D, Sport Club Municipal Craiova, deţinătoarea trofeului, a fost învinsă, în deplasare, la Irun, în Spania, de Bera Bera, cu 32 la 21. Duminică, în grupa A, Măgura Cisnădie a pierdut, acasă, cu 20 la 34 în faţa echipei germane Bietigheim.



    Trecem, la tenis, pentru că la Melbourne au început jocurile de pe tablourile principale ale primului turneu de Mare Şlem al anului — Openul Australiei. Jucătoarea română Irina Begu s-a calificat, luni, în runda a doua a turneului. Ea a profitat de abandonul jucătoarei germane Andrea Petkovic, la scorul de 6-7, 4-3. Tot în prima rundă a turneului, Sorana Cîrstea şi Monica Niculescu au fost învinse. Cîrstea a fost întrecută de suedeza Rebecca Peterson cu 6-4, 6-1. Niculescu a cedat în faţa tinerei americane Amanda Anisimova, care s-a impus cu 7-6, 6-4.



    Mai departe, fotbal. Universitatea Craiova a învins, duminică, formaţia turcă de ligă secundă Adana Demirspor cu scorul de 2-1, în primul joc disputat în stagiul de pregătire din Antalya. Pentru Universitatea au marcat Andrei Cristea şi Valentin Mihăilă. Golul formaţiei turce a fost reuşit de polonezul Jakub Kosecki.



    Tot în Turcia, echipa Dinamo Bucureşti a fost învinsă de Hajduk Split cu scorul de 2-0. Gruparea croată s-a impus prin golurile marcate de Mijo Caktaš [citim Ţaktaş] şi de jucătorul maghiar Ádám Gyurcsó.



    O altă echipă română aflată în Antalya, Dunărea Călăraşi, a terminat la egalitate, scor 1-1, cu formaţia germană de liga a treia Krefelder Fu‎ßballclub Uerdingen 05. Echipa antrenată de Dan Alexa a marcat prin senegalezul Mediop Ndiaye, iar Uerdingen a egalat prin Christopher Schorch.

    Au mai rămas puţine zile până la debutul
    jocurilor de pe tablourile principale ale primului mare turneu de tenis al
    anului – Openul Australiei. Crema tenisului masculin şi feminin se pregăteşte
    pentru competiţia de la Melbourne la turnee din zonă. Acestea au loc la Sydney,
    la Auckland, în Noua Zeelandă, şi la Hobart, în Tasmania. La toate aceste
    întreceri au luat startul, săptămâna aceasta, şi sportivi din România, cu
    rezultate mai mult sau mai puţin bune.


    În competiţia masculină de la Auckland, dotată
    cu premii de 527.880 de dolari, România a fost reprezentată atât la simplu, cât
    şi la dublu. La simplu, Marius Copil a pierdut încă din primul tur, fiind
    învins de americanul Taylor Fritz cu 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. La dublu, tot în prima
    rundă, perechea formată din românul Horia Tecău şi olandezul Jean-Julien Rojer a
    fost învinsă de gemenii americani Bob şi Mike Bryan cu 3-6, 7-6 şi 11-9 în
    super tiebreak.


    La Sydney, unde premiile se ridică la 823
    de mii de dolari, numărul unu mondial, Simona Halep, a pierdut încă din primul
    tur    . Ea a fost învinsă de australianca Ashleigh Barty, cu 6-4, 6-4. Acesta a
    fost primul joc disputat de Simona în 2019.


    În turneul feminin de la Hobart, dotat cu
    premii de 250 de mii de dolari, româncele merg oarecum mai bine. La simplu,
    Irina Begu s-a calificat în sferturile de finală, după ce a trecut, miercuri,
    de rusoaica Ana Blinkova, cu 4-6, 7-6, 6-2.     Celelalte două reprezentante ale
    României de pe tabloul principal, Ana Bogdan şi Mihaela Buzărnescu, au fost
    eliminate încă din primul tur.


    La dublu, perechea alcătuită din jucătoarea
    română Monica Niculescu şi chinezoaica Zhaoxuan Yang s-a calificat, tot miercuri,
    în semifinale, după 6-1, 6-4 cu cuplul româno – kazah Raluca Olaru / Galina

    Finances – Le déficit budgétaire de la Roumanie en 2018 ne dépassera pas les 3% du PIB, a assuré le ministre des Finances, Eugen Teodorovici. La précision intervient après que des économistes de l’opposition parlementaire de droite ont affirmé que le déficit risquait de se monter à 5%, un taux supérieur à la moyenne européenne. Par ailleurs, le ministre Teodorovici a déclaré que le projet de budget pour 2019 serait rendu public cette semaine et examiné au Parlement avant la fin du mois. Dans un message récent adressé au gouvernement, le chef de l’Etat roumain déplorait l’absence d’un projet de budget. C’est un problème très grave et je demande des explications au gouvernement et au PSD, en tant que principale formation au pouvoir, a ajouté Klaus Iohannis.



    CSAT– Le Conseil supérieur de la magistrature de Roumanie décide ce lundi si le procureur Anca Jurma continuera oui ou non son intérim à la tête de la DNA. Déléguée à ce poste en juillet 2018, par le procureur général de la Roumanie, Augustin Lazar, elle a remplacé à la direction du Parquet anticorruption Laura Codruta Kovesi. La proposition de prolonger son mandat intervient dans le contexte où le ministre de la Justice, Tudorel Toader, a envoyé au chef de l’Etat roumain une liste de propositions pour la direction de plusieurs parquets. Pour la DNA, le ministre Toader a avancé le nom d’Adina Florea, une proposition que le chef de l’Etat a déjà rejetée fin novembre, en invoquant des conditions de légalité.

    Fête – Les chrétiens orthodoxes et gréco – catholiques célèbrent ce lundi la Saint Jean, associé à Jean Baptiste, dernier prophète de l’Ancien Testament. Près de deux millions de Roumains portent le nom de Jean ou ses dérivés. Ce 7 janvier encore, les chrétiens de rite ancien, notamment d’ethnie russe, ukrainienne et serbe, fêtent Noël.     Tennis – La joueuse de tennis roumaine Irina Begu, 67e mondiale, s’est qualifiée ce lundi dans les huitièmes de finale du tournoi WTA de Hobart, en Australie, après la victoire 2 à 0 face à la Britannique Heather Watson, 44ème mondiale. Ce lundi encore, une autre Roumaine, Ana Bogdan, 76ème au classement WTA, rencontre la Tunisienne Ons Jabeur, 60ème WTA. La numéro un mondiale, la Roumaine, Simona Halep, participe au Tournoi WTA de Sydney qui a débuté lundi. La meilleure joueuse du monde rencontrera directement, au second tour, la gagnante du match entre la Lettone Jelena Ostapenko et l’Australienne Ashleigh Barty.

    Météo – Il fait froid en ce lundi, même très froid, surtout au centre du pays. Des chutes de neiges sont signalées dans l’est, le centre, le sud et sur le relief.     Perechea română formată din Irina Begu şi Andreea Mitu a câştigat, duminică, trofeul în proba de dublu a turneului de tenis BRD Bucharest Open, după ce a învins în finală cuplul Danka Kovinic (Muntenegru) – Maryna Zanevska (Belgia) cu scorul de 6-3, 6-4.



    Pentru Irina Begu aceasta a fost a doua finală de dublu consecutivă la Bucureşti, după ce în ediţia trecută şi-a adjudecat trofeul împreună cu Raluca Olaru. Şi pentru Andreea Mitu aceasta a fost a doua finală, ea ratând victoria în 2015 când o avea ca parteneră pe Particia Ţig.



    Din cele 5 ediţii de până acum ale turneului, trei au fost câştigate de perechi române: Elena Bogdan-Alexandra Cadanţu (2014), Irina Begu-Raluca Olaru (2017) şi Irina Begu-Andreea Mitu (2018).



    Pentru câştigarea trofeului, perechea Irina Begu-Andreea Mitu va încasa 12.300 de dolari şi 280 de puncte WTA.

    Jucătoarea română de tenis Irina Begu (36 WTA) a trecut de Jelena Ostapenko (numărul cinci mondial), cu 6-3, 6-3, în prima rundă a turneului WTA de la Madrid, după o oră şi 24 de minute

    Begu va primi 65 de puncte WTA şi 36.775 euro. Turneul este dotat cu premii totale de 6.685.828 euro. Irina Begu va juca, în turul doi, cu învingătoarea dintre Mihaela Buzărnescu şi rusoaica Maria Şarapova.

    Simona Halep, numărul unu mondial, va juca împotriva rusoaicei Ekaterina Makarova în prima rundă, iar Sorana Cîrstea, o va întâlni pe Katerina Siniakova (Cehia).

    Die Weltranglistenerste Simona Halep leistete am Wochenende einen entscheidenden Beitrag zum rumänischen Erfolg im Playoff des FedCups, des Gegenstücks zum Davis-Cup der Herren. In Klausenburg traf das rumänische Team auf die Schweiz, die Begegnung galt im Vorfeld als kompliziert. Und die Befürchtungen sollten sich gerade im ersten Spiel am Samstag zunächst bestätigen. In der ausverkauften Mehrzweckhalle von Klausenburg hatte Halep über weite Strecken Mühe mit der Schweizerin Viktorija Golubic, der Nummer 115 der Welt. Im ersten Durchgang konnte die Rumänin noch einen 1:3 Rückstand drehen und in ein 6:3 umwandeln, doch im zweiten Durchgang schwankte sie. Golubic erlebte da ihre beste Phase mit insgesamt 15 direkten Winnern – mit einem satten 6:1 glich sie aus. Schließlich erholte sich Halep schnell vom Schock des zweiten Satzes und war auf einmal wieder bei allen Ballwechseln hellwach. Im entscheidenden Durchgang waren die Weichen rasch auf einen Sieg der Weltranglistenersten gestellt, Golubic gelang es nicht mehr, mit ihrer einhändigen Rückhand Schaden anzurichten. Am Ende gewann Halep den dritten Satz mit 6:1 und Rumänien führte vor 10.000 Zuschauern mit 1:0!



    Im zweiten Spiel am Samstag standen sich Irina Begu, die Nummer 38. der WTA-Liste, und Timea Bacsinsky, die Nummer 46. der Welt gegenüber. Es sollte am Ende ein deutlicher Sieg für die Rumänin erfolgen, doch das Match war viel ausgeglichener als es das Endergebnis von 6:4 und 6:1 ahnen lässt. Die Schweizerin hatte im ersten Satz mit 2:0 geführt und dabei sehr stark ausgesehen. Dank einer taktischen Meisterleistung habe es Begu anschließend geschafft, die Rückhand Bacsinskys zu neutralisieren, eine der stärksten auf der Profitour – zitierten Journalisten des Portals treizecizero.ro unter anderem den Trainer Begus. Auch der erste und zweite Aufschlag Begus seien an dem Tag entscheidend gewesen. Nach zwei Partien führte also Rumänien mit 2:0 und brauchte für den Aufstieg in die Weltgruppe nur noch einen Gewinn.



    Und den sollte Simona Halep im ersten Spiel am Sonntag bringen. Der Tag begann mit einer Überraschung, die Nummer 1. der Gäste, Timea Bacsinsky, verspürte Schmerzen an den Adduktoren und musste durch die Veteranin Patty Schnyder ersetzt werden. Schnyder, die im Dezember 40 Jahre alt wird, erklärte selbst, sie hätte gerade Kaffee im Hotel getrunken, als sie von der Entscheidung erfuhr. Halep zeigte ihrer Gegnerin früh die Grenzen auf und dominierte die meisten Ballwechsel mit scheinbarer Leichtigkeit. Am Ende war die Statistik deutlich: Auch wenn die unerzwungenen Fehler relativ ausgeglichen verteilt waren (21:19 aus Sicht von Schnyder), hatte die Rumänin gut doppelt so viele Gewinnschläge vorzuweisen (21:10). Die logische Folge – ein ungefährdeter 6:2 6:1 Sieg für Halep und der Gesamtsieg für die rumänische FedCup-Mannschaft. Die Doppelbegegnung gegen die Schweiz zum Schluss hatte nur noch einen formellen Charakter, das Duo Viktorija Golubic / Jil Teichmann gewann gegen Sorana Cîrstea und Mihaela Buzărnescu mit 0:6, 6:0 und 10:6 im Matchtiebreak.



    Die Weltranglistenerste Halep war am Sonntag sichtlich erleichtert. Seit ihrem Debüt im Mannschaftswettbewerb der Tennis-Damen 2010 war es Halep nur einmal gelungen, beide Einzelbegegnungen für sich zu entscheiden. Das war vor genau einem Jahr im Spiel gegen Großbritannien im Idu-Stadion im Badeort Mamaia bei Constanţa. Damals hatte Halep Heather Watson und Johanna Konta bezwingen können. Jetzt hat es Halep auf 16 Siege im Fedcup gebracht und damit die Veteranin Monica Niculescu eingeholt – Nur Ruxandra Dragomir, die in den 90er Jahren spielte, hat mehr Siege für Rumänien eingefahren.



    Nach den Niederlagen gegen Tschechien und Deutschland 2016 waren Rumäniens Tennisdamen aus der Weltgruppe abgestiegen. Jetzt kann das Team in der kommenden Saison wieder um den Titel mitspielen. Die Zusammensetzung der Weltgruppe 2019 wird sein: Tschechische Republik, USA, Frankreich, Weißrussland / Slowakei, Deutschland, Australien, Belgien, Rumänien.

    Irina Begu (38 WTA) a învins-o pe Timea Bacsinszky (46 WTA) cu 6-4, 6-1, în cel de-al doilea meci de simplu jucat sâmbătă în Sala Polivalentă din Cluj-Napoca.


    Remintim că Simona Halep s-a impus cu 6-3, 1-6, 6-1, în faţa Viktorijei Golubic, după 1 oră şi 47 de minute de joc. Numărul 1 WTA a adus, astfel, primul punct pentru România în duelul cu Elveţia.

    Duminică, 22 aprilie, de la ora 12.00, vor continua, la Cluj, partidele de tenis dintre echipele feminine ale României şi Elveţiei, contând pentru Fed Cup. Simona Halep o va întâlni pe Timea Bacsinszky, iar Irina Begu va juca împotriva Viktorijei Golubic.

    Meciul de dublu se va disputa între Irina Begu și Simona Halep, respectiv Patty Schnyder și Jil Teichmann, Componența perechilor poate suferi modificări până la ora începerii partidei.

    PROTESTS Members of the Trade Federation of Train Drivers have today picketed the Transport Ministry in Bucharest. The protesters have denounced several issues such as the debts of rail company CFR SA, the situation of rail infrastructure, the statute of the rail personnel as well as the low salaries. The train drivers have announced they will be picketing the Transport Ministry on three days, April 5th, 12th, and 19th and stage a march towards the government headquarters on April 23rd. Also today, disgruntled with the pay law, employees of the Marius Nasta Lung Center in Bucharest are on their second day of protests.





    EASTER Over 50 thousand employees of Romanias Interior Ministry have been summoned to ensure public security all over the country during Easter. Gendarme and police troops will be chiefly deployed around churches and other religious institutions. 250 thousand people are expected to attend more than 700 public events that will take place in Romania in the next four days. Traffic police, equipped with more than 300 traffic radars and backed by helicopters, will be monitoring traffic on Romanias motorways on Easter days.

    UPDATE România a învins Canada cu scorul de 3-1, duminică, în primul tur al Grupei Mondiale II a Fed Cup, după ce perechea Gabriela Dabrowski/Carol Zhao s-a impus cu 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 în meciul de dublu cu cuplul Ana Bogdan/Raluca Olaru, în Sala Polivalentă din Cluj-Napoca.

    România merge în barajul pentru Grupa Mondială I a FedCup, după victoria în fața Canadei (3-0), în întâlnirea de la Cluj-Napoca. Irina Begu s-a impus lejer, duminică, în fața Katherinei Sebov, scor 6-2, 6-4 și a adus victoria decisivă pentru reprezentativa României. Tot Irina Begu a câștigat, sâmbătă, partida disputată împotriva Biancăi Andreeascu, jucătoare canadiană de origine română, cu scorul 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-2. Întâlnirea de la Cluj-Napoca a debutat cu victoria în două seturi a Soranei Cîrstea care a învins-o pe Carol Zhao, scor 6-2, 6-2.



    La această oră se dispută și partida de dublu dintre Ana Bogdan/Raluca Olaru și Carol Zhao/Gabriela Dabrowski. Întâlnirea contează doar pentru palmaresul celor două reprezentative. Al patrulea meci de simplu dintre Sorana Cîrstea și Bianca Andreescu nu se va mai disputa, conform înțelegerii dintre cele două echipe.



    Reprezentativa Canadei a venit la București fără vedeta ei, Eugenie Bouchard, clasată în acest moment în afara topului 100 WTA. Nici Simona Halep nu a putut juca pentru România, deoarece se resimte după turneul de Mare Șlem de la Melbourne.     SCHENGEN – Romanias President Klaus Iohannis has today stated, at the annual meeting with the heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Bucharest, that Romanias joining the Schengen area is essential. He has also stated that the logistics needed for Romanias holding the presidency of the EU Council in 2019 must be properly prepared. The head of state has given assurances that Romania will keep taking part in the debates on strengthening the economic and monetary union and has added that, unless it joins the Schengen area, Romania will not enjoy all the benefits ensured by its EU integration. The president has also stated that Romanias foreign policy pillars are the strategic partnership with the US and its membership to the EU and NATO. Klaus Iohannis has also stated that Bucharest firmly pleads for strengthening trans-Atlantic ties.



    OPPOSITION – The National Liberal Party, the main opposition party in Romania, has today presented the so called “black book of the PSD-ALDE governing”. The president of the party Ludovic Orban has stated that 2017 was a lost year for Romania and the country is heading in the wrong direction from a democratic, economic and social point of view. According to the analysis made by the liberals, out of the 724 measures that the government formed by the Social Democratic Party and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats committed to implementing, only 33 were actually implemented, and as regards major fields such as education, health and the economy, less than 5% of the promised measures were taken. Also, budget expenditure exceeded revenues and the money was not used for development, it was mainly spent on personnel expenditure. The National Liberal Party also claims that, when the coalition started ruling, the inflation rate was 0.2%, to then reach 3.3% in 2017. Previously, Orban had announced that the liberals would establish the way in which they were going to act in Parliament to prevent the validation of the new governmental team, headed by the Social Democrat MEP Viorica Dancila.     JUSTICE LAWS – The Constitutional Court is today debating claims filed by the High Court of Cassation and Justice and the opposition National Liberal Party and Save Romania Union regarding the changes brought to the justice laws. One of the notifications concerns the setting up of the Special Prosecutors Office responsible for investigating judges and prosecutors. Magistrates believe that this breaks the principle of equality before the law, as they would become the only professional category in Romania to have a special office for their own prosecution. In turn, the liberals say that the changes brought to the justice laws break several constitutional principles, including the senators and deputies right to have legislative initiatives. On Saturday, dozens of thousand of people protested again against the ruling coalition in Romania, whom they blame for trying to subordinate magistrates and to put an end to the fight against corruption. The changes in the justice laws have also been criticized by president Klaus Iohannis, the media and some of Romanias western partners. The Constitutional Court will probably issue its final ruling on the matter next month.



    IMF – In an update on its bi-annual “World Economic Outlook”, the International Monetary Fund estimates that world economy will increase its growth rate to 4% in 2018 and 2019. Also, the report reads that last year, economic activity in Europe and Asia was surprisingly better than estimated, so the fund has revised upwards its estimates for the Eurozone, in particular for Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. According to the IMF, the US economy would register an economic growth rate of 2.7% in 2018, but that would slow down to 2.5% in 2019. The Chinese economy would register a rate of 6.6% this year, and 6.4% in 2019. As regards Romania, in its “World Economic Outlook”, published in October 2017, the IMF revised the growth rate estimated for Romania in 2018, from 3.4% to 4.4%.



    FLU – A 40-year old woman has died in Botosani, north-eastern Romania, of complications triggered by the flu. This is the third death caused by flu viruses this year in Romania, after a 69 year old woman in Bucharest and a 15-year old boy in Salaj, north-western Romania. The Health Minister Florian Bodog has called on family doctors to continue the anti-flu vaccination campaign this month too, especially of people who are at risk. According to the National Centre for Disease Surveillance and Control, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections has reached 75,000. Specialists say that, as compared to the same period last season, the total number of ill people is smaller by some 25%.



    AUSTRALIAN OPEN – The pair made up of the Romanian tennis players Irina Begu and Monica Niculescu has qualified for the semifinals of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year, after a 3 set victory against the US couple Jennifer Brady/Vania King. Next, Begu and Niculescu will take on the Russians Ekaterina Makarova/Elena Vesnina, who won the title in Melbourne back in 2014. On Wednesday, Romanias only representatives in the singles, Simona Halep, takes on Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic. Halep is the worlds number one player and also first-seed at the Australian Open.

    Air quality. In a final push to find solutions to address the serious problem of air pollution in the European Union, Commissioner for Environment, Karmenu Vella has invited ministers from 9 Member States to convene in Brussels on Tuesday, January 30, the European Commission announced on Friday. The 9 Member States, namely the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and the United Kingdom, face infringement procedures for exceeding agreed air pollution limits. The meeting gives an opportunity to Member States to prove that additional adequate steps will be taken to redress the current situation without delay and comply with European law. EU legislation on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe, sets air quality limits that cannot be exceeded anywhere in the EU, and obliges Member States to limit the exposure of citizens to harmful air pollutants. Despite this obligation, air quality has remained a problem in many places for a number of years. In 23 out of 28 Member States, air quality standards are still being exceeded — in total in over more than 130 cities across Europe. The 9 Member States invited to the meeting are those, which have already received a Reasoned Opinion and for which the next stage in the infringement procedure would be a referral to the Court of Justice.




    Flu. The Romanian healthcare minister Florian Bodog called on family doctors to continue to monitor the situation of flu vaccination in January, particularly in the case of people at risk, given that the flu season has begun later than last year. Florian Bodog says over 700,000 people have received their flu vaccines so far, with almost 300,000 free doses still being available. Two people have died this year because of flu, a teenager and a 69-year-old woman.




    Government. The executive committee of the Social Democratic Party, the senior partner in the ruling coalition in Romania, is to meet on Monday to form a new government. President Klaus Iohannis has accepted the proposal of the Social Democratic Party and their ruling partners, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats, to task the Social Democrat MEP Viorica Dancila with the formation of a new government. The Social Democrats leader Liviu Dragnea says Parliament will meet in extraordinary session so that the new cabinet can be sworn in on the 29th of January. Early this week, the Social Democrat Prime Minister Mihai Tudose resigned after losing his partys political support. On Friday, the Minister for European Funds, Marius Nica, decided to also tender his resignation.




    Social media. 47% of enterprises in the European Union used at least one type of social media in 2017, the highest percentage being recorded in Malta, with 74%, according to Eurostat data published on Friday. 35% of Romanian enterprises used social media in 2017, more than in Poland, 27%, Latvia, 30%, and Bulgaria, 34%, and slightly less than in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Across the European Union, the percentage of enterprises using social media went up from less than a third in 2013 to almost half in 2017. Eurostat notes that social networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn are the most widely used by EU enterprises.




    Australian Open. The Romanian pair Irina Begu and Monica Niculescu reached the third round in the womens doubles at the Australian Open, after a 3-set victory over the Australian pair Jessica Moore and Ellen Perez. The Romanian-Ukrainian pair Raluca Olaru and Olga Savchuk lost, however, to the all-Czech pair Lucie Safarova and Barbora Strycova. In the mens doubles, the Romanian-Dutch pair Horia Tecau and Jean-Julien Rojer are still in competition. On Saturday, Simona Halep and Ana Bogdan play in the womens singles third round. Halep, who is world no. 1 and first seed in Melbourne, faces the American player Lauren Davis, while Ana Bogdan takes on another American player, Madison Keys.




    Weather. Tens of thousands of homes, mostly in south-eastern Romania, are without electricity following a snowfall in recent days. Tens of schools have been closed in several counties in the south and east. The sea ports of Midia and Mangalia and the river port of Constanta South-Agigea and Bara Sulina have been reopened for navigation.     Bukarest: Der rumänische Premierminister Mihai Tudose ist am Montag Abend zurückgetreten. Der Vorstand der Sozialdemokratischen Partei PSD – der größten Partei der Regierungskoalition in Bukarest – hatte ihm in einer Krisensitzung die Unterstützung entzogen. Präsident Klaus Iohannis beauftragte Verteidigungsminister Mihai Fifor mit der kommissarischen Führung der Amtsgeschäfte und berief für Mittwoch Gespräche mit den Parlamentsparteien ein. Die Sozialdemokraten haben sich inzwischen auch auf eine neue mögliche Regierungschefin geeinigt – die 54jährige Europaabgeordnete Viorica Dancila aus der eigenen Partei.



    Bukarest: Historischer Besuch: zum ersten Mal kommt mit Shinzo Abe ein japanischer Ministerpräsident nach Rumänien. Abe trifft sich am Dienstag mit Präsident Klaus Iohannis. Der japanische Regierungschef wird von einer Delegation von Geschäftsleuten aus seinem Land begleitet. In 2013 haben Rumänien und Japan ihre Partnerschaft erneuert. Shinzo Abe befindet sich auf einer diplomatischen Rundreise durch Mittel- und Osteuropa, wo er um Unterstützung für seinen harten Kurs in der Politik gegenüber Nordkorea wirbt.



    Bukarest: Der rumänische Justizminister Tudorel Toader diskutiert am Dienstag in Strassburg mit dem Präsidenten des EGMR, Guido Raimondi, über die Maßnahmen der Behörden zur Verbesserung der Lage in den Gefängnissen. In einem Piloturteil hatte der Gerichtshof bestätigt, dass die Zustände in den rumänischen Haftanstalten die Menschenrechte verletzen und der Regierung bis zum 25. Januar Zeit gegeben, einen Fahrplan zur Verbesserung der Lage vorzulegen. Justizministrer Tudose hatte unlängst in Aussicht gestellt, dass die Maßnahmen dem EGMR am 22. Januar übermittelt werden.



    Sport: Simona Halep ist am Dienstag mit einigen Schwierigkeiten beim Australian Open eine Runde weitergekommen. Die Weltrangerste setze sich gegen Destanee Aiava aus Australien mit 7-6, 6-1 durch, klagte dabei über Schmerzen am Knöchel. Halep, die Hauptfavoritin des Turnier, tritt nun gegen die Kanadierin Eugenie Bouchard an. Zwei weitere Spielerinnen aus Rumänien, Irina Begu und Sorana Cîrstea, stehen ebenfalls in der zweiten Runde. Begu setzte sich am Montag gegen die Russin Jekaterina Makarova durch, Cîrstea besiegte am Dienstag Zarina Dyias aus Kasachstan und spielt jetzt gegen Lucie Safarova aus Tschechien. Ana Bogdan überraschte ihrerseits mit ihrem Sieg gegen die Französin Kristina Mladenovic, nr. 11 der Weltrangliste.

    Bukarest: Die palästinensische Botschaft in Bukarest begrü‎ßt die Erklärung des rumänischen Präsidenten Klaus Iohannis, die die Position Bukarests in der Jerusalem-Frage bestätigt. Durch den Beschlu‎ß, die Verlegung der rumänischen Botschaft von Tel Aviv nach Jerusalem nicht als vernünftige Option zu betrachten, zeigt Rumänien nach wie vor Respekt gegenüber den fundamentalen Rechtsprinzipien und der internationalen Gesetzgebung”, bekräftigte in einer Pressemitteilung der Botschafter Fuad Kokaly. Die Erklärung erfolgte nach dem telefonischen Gespräch zwischen Klaus Iohannis und dem israelischen Premier Benjamin Netanyahu. Jerusalem stelle ein zentrales Thema bei den Friedensverhandlungen im Mittleren Osten dar und seinen offiziellen Status sollte aufgrund einer direkten Vereinbarung zwischen Israel und Palästina festgelegt werden, sagte der Staatschef Rumäniens. Bukarest bekräftige im Anschlu‎ß die Notwendigkeit einer gerechten und langfristigen Lösung des israelisch-palästinensischen Konfliktes durch die Einführung der Zweitsaatenlösung, die zwei Staaten und zwei Volksgruppen vorsieht, damit diese im Frieden und Sicherheit zusammenleben. Diese sei die einzige gangbare Lösung, die dem Aufstreben beider Völker entspricht. Infolgedessen könne eine eventuelle Verlegung der rumänischen Botschaft von Tel Aviv nach Jerusalem nur unter diesen Umständen in Frage kommen, Rücksicht sollte zudem auf die zukünftige Entwicklung des Friedensprozesses genommen werden, fügte Klaus Iohannis hinzu. Im telefonischen Gespräch mit dem Premier Benjamin Netanyahu betonte Klaus Iohannis im Anschlu‎ß, dass Rumänien nach wie vor die Beziehungen zu Israel ausbauen wird. Das Gespräch fand aus Initiative des israelischen Premiers statt, der dem rumänischen Präsidenten dafür dankte, dass sich Rumänien der Stimme enthielt, als die UN-Vollversammlung mit deutlicher Mehrheit die US-Entscheidung zur Anerkennung Jerusalems als israelische Haupstadt verurteilte.



    Bukarest: Der Oberste Rat der Richter und Staatsanwälte hat seit Freitag eine neue Führung. Die Richterin Simona Camelia Marcu wurde zum Vorsitzenden des Rates gewählt, während der Staatsanwalt Codruţ Olaru das Amt des Vizevorsitzenden bekleiden wird. Marcu und Olaru haben nach ihrer Ernennung die Notwendigkeit der Einheit im Justizwesen und der Offenheit gegenüber den anderen Staatsbehörden betont. Die neue Vorsitzende des Rates hob im Anschlu‎ß die bedeutende Rolle hervor, die die Beziehungen zur rumänischen Gesellschaft für das gute Funktionieren der Behörde spielen. Die Justiz sei eine öffentliche Dienstleistung für die Bürger, fügte Camelia Marcu hinzu. Der Staatschef Klaus Iohannis kritisierte auf der Sitzung des Rates der Richter und Staatsanwälte die jüngsten Änderungen der Justizgesetze und deren Verabschiedungsverfahren. Diese wurden sowohl im Parlament von den Oppositionsparteien als auch auf der Stra‎ße von der Zivilgesellschaft und einem Teil der Richter und Staatsanwälte angefochten. Die Gegner der besagten Änderungen weisen darauf hin, dass die besagten Gesetze gegen die Verfassung versto‎ßen und für Verwirrung sorgen.



    Bukarest: Die Orthodoxen und die griechisch-katholischen Christen feiern am 6. Januar und am 7. Januar die Taufe Jesu bzw den Tag von Johannes dem Täufer. Die Taufe Jesu stellt den Anfang der Zeit des öffentlichen Wirkens Jesu von Nazaret dar. Die Feier gilt als eine der ältesten und trägt ebenfalls den Namen Epiphanie oder die Erscheinung des Herrn. An diesem Tag wird in orthodoxen Kirchen als Tauferinnerung und Segnung Wasser geweiht.



    Sport: Die Weltranglistenerste Simona Halep hat am Samstag das WTA-Turnier in Shenzhen gewonnen. Im Endspiel des mit 626.750 Dollar dotierten Turniers setzte sich die rumänische Tennisspielerin gegen die Tschechin Katerina Siniakova in drei Sätzen, 6-1, 2-6, 6-0 durch. Das rumänische Doppel Simona Halep und Irina Begu hat auch den Titel im Doppelwettbewerb erobert. Halep und Begu setzen sich im Finale mit 1-6, 6-1, 10-8 gegen die Favoritinnen Barbora Krejcikova/Katerina Siniakova aus Tschechien durch.
