    Saturday saw the Champions League’s
    games in women’s handball. In group B, CSM Bucharest secured a 35-19 home win
    against Polish side Perla Lublin and is currently topping the group table with 5
    points. Next comes Russian side Rostov-Don with 4 points.






    In group C, SCM Ramnicu Valcea lost
    to Buducnost Podgorica of Montenegro 19-23. The Romanian champions are ranking
    third in the group with only 2 points. Brest Bretagne ranks first with 6 points
    followed by Buducnost with 4.






    In the EHF Cup, Corona Brasov
    conceded a 32-33 defeat to Bera Bera of San Sebastian but has qualified for the
    competition’s next stage thanks to the 35-30 home win last week. Another
    Romanian side Magura Cisnadie lost their away match to Ukrainian side
    Galychanka 14-19, but have qualified on aggregate as they won the first match
    at home 31-23.






    In men’s handball competitions,
    Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest ended in a 26-all draw their away game against
    Polish side Wisla Plock in the Champions League’s Group D. Nicusor Negru scored
    five goals for the Romanian side during the match. In the other group’s
    matches, Swedish side Kristianstad clinched a 36-28 win against Cehovskie
    Medvedi, while Danish side Gudme defeated Kadetten Schaffhausen of Switzerland
    35-30.






    With no defeat so far Dinamo is
    currently ranking first in the group followed by Gudme with the same number of
    points, eight, but with a lower goal average.


    Romanian ice hokey side Sport Club
    Miercurea Ciuc have consolidated their leading position in the regional Erste
    competition after a 5-2 win against Ujpest in Budapest on Sunday. Sport Club
    ranks first in the standings with 36 points followed by Ferencvaros Budapest
    with 29.






    Last weekend saw the games of the
    13th leg of Romania’s first football league. On Friday in Targu
    Mures, central Romania, FC Hermannstadt and FC Voluntari ended in a nil-all
    draw their match, while in Bucharest, local side Dinamo secured a 2-0 win
    against Gaz Metan Medias. On Saturday, CFR Cluj clinched a 2-0 home win against
    Universitatea Craiova.






    On Sunday in Calarasi, southern
    Romania, the match pitching Academica Clincheni against Viitorul Constanta
    ended in a goaless draw, while in Sfantu Gheorghe, local side Sepsi conceded a
    3-2 defeat to Astra Giurgiu. In Ploiesti, southern Romania, FCSB clinched a 2-1
    win against Chindia Targoviste. CFR Cluj ranks first in the standings with 27
    points followed by Viitorul with 25.

    The first stage of World Rowing Cup, to be
    held in Bulgarian city, Plovdiv, between May 10 and 12, will see a Romanian
    delegation made of no less than seven crews, as four men’s and three women’s
    crews from this country are taking part in this competition.






    Representing Romania in the women’s version
    of the Cup are the crews competing in the light double scull, four oars and the
    coxed eight events. Men will be competing in the double scull, four oars, four
    scull and the coxed eight events.

    The Romanian International Swimming
    Championships got underway on May 9 and will last until May 12. The venue for
    this competition is the Dinamo swimming pool in Bucharest. Organized by the
    Romanian Swimming and Modern Pentathlon Federation, the championships will see
    around 360 swimmers taking part in the event, coming from eight countries,
    Austria, Georgia, Lithuania, Republic of Moldova, Portugal, Slovakia, Great
    Britain and Romania.






    Now it’s’ news from handball, as
    the-last-but-one round of the National women’s handball League, to be held on
    Sunday, will see the main teams playing home games. CSM Bucharest takes on SCM
    Craiova, while SCM Ramnicu Valcea plays CSM Slatina. SCM Ramnicu Valcea is the
    favorite to winning the title. Ramnicu Valcea is at the top of the as-it-stands
    table with 63 points, followed by CSM Bucharest with 60 points. Third placed
    are Bistrita, with 39 points.






    This coming Saturday will see fixtures being
    played counting towards the 14th round of Romania’s Rugby Super
    League. Constanta faces HCM Buzau, while CSM Bucharest are pitted against
    Steaua Bucharest. Dinamo Bucharest faces CSM Baia Mare and Universitatea Cluj
    takes on Timisoara Saracens. The four teams in descending order, in the table,
    are CSM Bucharest with 53 points, Steaua Bucharest with 51, Timisoara Saracens
    with 49 points and CSM Baia Mare, with 48 points.

    round of domestic League One will see Group 1 matches being played at the
