    MOLDOVA VOTES Moldovans are going to the polls today to cast their ballot for the president and to decide in a referendum the European future of this small, ex-soviet, Romanian-speaking country. The incumbent president, the pro-European Maia Sandu stands most chances to a second mandate and according to the polls, more than half of the respondents are voting in favour of the country’s joining the EU. However, it seems that detaching from Moscow’s sphere of influence is as difficult as gaining independence from the Soviet Union, which the country did more than three decades ago. The authorities in Chisinau have taken measures to prevent any internal and external provocations as well as any hostile actions, including from the pro-Russian, breakaway region of Transdniester. Over 22 hundred polling stations have been set up in the Republic of Moldova and over 230 for the Moldovans abroad, including 16 in the neighboring Romania.

     

     DAY According to Romania’s Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, the day of October 20th is a historic one for the neighboring ex-soviet, Romanian-speaking Republic of Moldova. “I am convinced that at the end of it, the Republic of Moldova will be one step closer to the European Union – where we can build the future together”, Ciolacu wrote on Facebook on Sunday. Numerous political leaders in Romania, both from the opposition and the ruling coalition, have urged the Moldovan citizens to say ‘Yes’ at the referendum concerning the European integration. According to the Moldovan ambassador in Bucharest, Victor Chirila, there are 100 thousand Moldovan citizens in Romania, out of whom 20 thousand are students.

     

    FESTIVAL Bucharest is presently seeing the 34th edition of the National Theatre Festival, unfolding this year under a suggestive motto, “Dramaturgy of the Possible”. Until October 28th, theatre goers are offered the opportunity of watching a series of performances, a selection which, according to organizers, is aimed at expressing various possible scenarios. The edition’s official selection includes over 30 performances mounted by theatre troupes from all over the country. Among these there is the Anthology of Disappearance by Radu Afrim, William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, directed by Andrei Serban, and Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. This year’s edition has also brought together theatre troupes from abroad, from Germany, Ireland, Poland and Belgium. The event has been produced by the Theaters Union in Romania, UNITER.

     

    TENNIS Romania’s table tennis player Bernadette Szocs has ensured medals in the singles and doubles contests of the European Table Tennis Championships underway in Linz, Austria. In the semis, Szocs will be up against Maria Xiao of Spain, after a win against Charlotte Lutz of France. In the doubles contest, Szocs and Sofia Polcanova of Austria will be up against the Czechoslovakian pair Hana Matelova/Barbora Balazova.

    “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” wins the UNITER Award for the best radio show of 2022

    The UNITER award for the best radio show performed in 2022 went to the Radio Romania National Radiophonic Theater for the production The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann. The Nutcracker and the Mouse King turned out to be the listeners’ favorite show, being the most voted radio production in audience’s bet contest, a tradition established and maintained by UNITER over time. The show was aimed to mark the bicentenary of the passing away of the famous German romantic writer and is signed by the director Diana Mihailopol. Here is Attila Vizauer, editor-in-chief of the National Radiophonic Theatre, about the new staging of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.



    It was a very interesting bet. We felt the need for a new, fresh version of this story, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, so we invited Diana Mihailopol to think about the possibility of producing a radio show based on this classic and well-known text. I admit I thought it might create a hit in this area. Well, Diana Mihailopol showed not only that she was interested in the text and that she treated it in a very generous way, that she was very inspired when she wrote the script, the radio adaptation of this story. She intervened with great sophistication in the text and managed to build a story with a formidable cast: Marian Râlea, Diana Rotaru, Marius Manole, Lucian Ionescu, Rodica Mandache. As I said, a formidable cast that helped make this a very, very beautiful show. Which is why it was no wonder that it won this year’s UNITER award for best radio theater show.



    Diana Mihailopol believes that the proposal to stage a show after The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffmann was for her a real challenge. Diana Mihailopol:


    I thought of and worked on this production trying to address not only children. I was happy that I was offered this text to adapt it for radio and, as I said when I was awarded, I got very close to that story. The radio adaptation addresses both adults and teenagers, I think it reaches listeners regardless of their age. There are some accents in this show that anyone can understand, it is primarily the evil personified by the Mouse King, but not only him. There is also the idea that evil has always existed. At the end of the adaptation, different from the story of E.T.A. Hoffmann and Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet, both of which have happy endings, the Mouse King returns. And he returns after the good seems to have prevailed and ideals achieved. The Mouse King returns and this return of his is underlined by a repeated line, stressed by Marius Manole, who plays in the show. It is a text that helps you understand what experiences you have to live as an adult. It is a story about the coming of age of a girl, about the coming of age of little Marie, who in Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet is called Clara. Little Marie goes through this process of growing up and manages to find her way.



    The actress of the German State Theater in Timişoara, Olga Török, handed the director Diana Mihailopol the UNITER trophy, the award for the best radio show staged in 2022 , at the 31st UNITER Awards Gala. Here is Diana Mihailopol again:


    It was a surprise because, first of all, it is a story perceived mainly as a children’s story. And these children’s stories are unfortunately considered minor, they play a secondary role, although I know many adults who love them, who are nostalgic for the stories they read when they were little. Perhaps many feel that The Nutcracker and the Mouse King is not or is no longer a story for our times, a story to be read in 2023, but I find it very current and I think it includes and reflects many of our current concerns. It is an adaptation that also benefits from an extraordinary cast, I was lucky that Alina Rotaru agreed to play the role of little Marie. As I said, it is about a little girl who fears that her innocence will end with the passing of the years and that her growing up will be complicated by the appearance of other feelings, which is what actually happens.



    The show The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, under the artistic direction of Diana Mihailopol, was also awarded at the Radio Romania Grand Prix Nova awards ceremony. The award for best supporting actress went to Manuela Ciucur for the role of Mrs. Mauserinks, queen over mice, and the Ilinca Tomoroveanu debut award went to Alina Rotaru for the role of Marie in the same show.     Consultations -
    Le chef de l’Etat roumain, Klaus Iohannis, a désigné mardi le responsable
    social-démocrate, Marcel Ciolacu, candidat aux fonctions de premier ministre.
    Lundi, le président du PNL, Nicolae Ciuca, a démissionné de la tête du
    gouvernement pour prendre les rênes du Sénat, au terme d’une rocade politique
    décidée par les deux partis. Le premier ministre désigné a affirmé que le futur
    cabinet se donnera pour priorités les réformes et la croissance économique. La
    Roumanie a besoin de toutes ces réformes et du Programme national de relance et
    de résilience. La Roumanie a sa place au sein de l’UE et de l’OTAN. Depuis
    l’opposition, l’USR a critiqué la rocade gouvernementale, en affirmant que le
    changement de premier ministre ne solutionnera pas les problèmes auxquels les
    Roumains se confrontent.


    Education – Les élèves roumains ont repris mardi les cours, au bout de
    3 semaines de grève générale dans l’éducation nationale, une première roumaine
    de ces 18 dernières années. Lundi, les syndicats de l’éducation et le
    gouvernement sont parvenus à un accord sur les majorations salariales dans le
    domaine, au terme d’un décret d’urgence approuvé par l’Exécutif. Pourtant, l’offre
    gouvernementale est loin de satisfaire tous les protestataires dont une partie
    dénoncent la décision des syndicats de suspendre la grève.








    Inflation – En Roumanie, le taux annuel d’inflation a baissé de 11,23%
    en avril dernier à 10,64 % en mai, a fait savoir l’Institut national de la
    statistique. Selon cette source, les denrées alimentaires sont devenues de 19 %
    plus chères, tandis que les prix des produits non alimentaires ont augmenté de
    5 % et ceux des services, de 11 %. Pour rappel, le mois dernier, la Banque
    nationale de Roumanie a révisé à la hausse, à 7,1 % ses prévisions
    inflationnistes pour la fin de cette année et a maintenu son estimation de 4,2
    % pour la fin 2024.






    Frégate – La frégate « Le Roi Ferdinand », navire-amiral de la
    Marine roumaine, rentrera le 16 juin au Port Militaire de Constanta, après 6
    semaines de participation à une opération en mer Méditerranée, a annoncé
    l’Etat-major des Forces navales roumaines. Au cours de leur mission, les marins
    militaires roumains ont dû s’assurer du respect de l’embargo sur les armes
    imposé par l’ONU à la Lybie, lutter contre le trafic illégal de produits
    pétroliers, de stupéfiants et de
    personnes, et surveiller le trafic maritime. La frégate roumaine a agi aux
    côtés des navires partenaires du groupement naval de l’Opération IRINI
    d’Italie, d’Allemagne et de Grèce.


    Théâtre – Le 31e gala des prix de l’Union théâtrale de
    Roumanie (UNITER) a eu lieu lundi à Timisoara (ouest), Capitale de la culture
    européenne en 2023. Le trophée du meilleur acteur dans un rôle principal a été remis
    à Victor Rebengiuc pour son rôle dans la pièce de théâtre « Le père », de Florian Zeller, mis en
    scène par Cristi Juncu au théâtre Bulandra de Bucarest. Le prix de la meilleure
    interprétation féminine a été attribué à Costinela Ungureanu pour son
    personnage « Ellida Wangel » dans « La dame de la mer » d’Henrik
    Ibsen, mis en scène par Andri Zholdak au Théâtre national « Marin Sorescu
    » de Craiova (sud). A mentionner aussi le trophée de la meilleure pièce de
    théâtre radiophonique attribué à « Casse-noisettes et le Roi des souris » de
    Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, adaptée pour la radio par Diana Mihailopol de la
    Radiodiffusion Roumaine.




    Inondations – Les hydrologues roumains ont prolongés jusqu’à mercredi les
    vigilances jaune et orange aux inondations, concernant les cours d’eau de 17
    départements du centre et de l’ouest de la Roumanie. Les pluies torrentielles
    enregistrées dans la nuit de lundi à mardi ont touché plusieurs localités dans
    le sud et le sud-ouest du pays placé en alerte rouge jusqu’à mardi matin. Les
    sapeurs-pompiers ont du intervenir en urgence après que des rivières ont
    débordé. Des hectares de terrains agricoles ont été inondés. Parmi les
    départements les plus touchés par les intempéries, notons Caraş-Severin,
    Vâlcea, Hunedoara et Mehedinţi. Lundi, les pluies torrentielles ont provoqué
    des inondations dans les départements de Timis et d’Alba aussi.




    Météo – Il fera
    beau mercredi, en Roumanie, avec des températures à la hausse qui se monteront
    jusqu’à 30 degrés. Nous aurons 29 degrés à midi, à Bucarest. Des pluies à
    verses et des phénomènes orageux continuent à toucher plusieurs régions.

    Grève – Les syndicats de l’Education nationale ont décidé de suspendre la grève générale de l’enseignement préuniversitaire roumain. Les leaders syndicaux ont annoncé cette décision après des consultations avec leurs collègues à travers le pays. La suspension de la grève est pourtant conditionnée par l’institution par décret d’urgence du principe conformément auquel le salaire de base d’un professeur débutant sera l’équivalent du salaire moyen de Roumanie. Les syndicats demandent aussi de recevoir sur le camp la moitié de la majoration totale prévue par la nouvelle loi de la grille unique des salaires. L’exécutif propose la majoration des salaires à commencer par le mois en cours de 260 euros pour les enseignants et de quelque 80 euros pour le personnel auxiliaire. Ce qui plus est, l’année prochaine, à commencer par le 1er janvier, les salaires devraient augmenter aux termes de la nouvelle loi des salaires dans le secteur public en deux étapes, dont la moitié de la majoration en 2024 et l’autre moitié en 2025. Ce qui plus est, l’Exécutif a proposé aussi une prime de quelque 300 euros aux enseignants et une autre de quelque 100 euros pour le personnel auxiliaire, qui seraient accordées à compter par cette année et jusqu’au 5 octobre 2027, à l’occasion de la Journée internationale de l’Education.

    Politique – Le libéral Nicolae Ciuca pourrait démissionner aujourd’hui de ses fonctions de premier ministre. Le plan pour ce départ a été évoqué au sein de la coalition dans le cadre d’une réunion avec le président roumain, Klaus Iohannis, mais aucune annonce formelle n’a été faite jusqu’ici, puisque toute l’affaire dépendait du dénouement de la grève de l’Education nationale. Jusqu’ici il n’y a pourtant aucun accord entre les partis de la coalition gouvernementale sur la formule du nouvel exécutif. L’Union démocrate magyare de Roumanie s’est vue proposer de renoncer aux portefeuilles de l’environnement et du développement, afin d’obtenir deux autres ministères : l’Energie et les Investissements et les fonds européens, ce que le leader Kelemen Hunor, a refusé. Le PSD et le PNL devraient négocier aussi d’autres ministères importants, tels les Transports, puisque les sociaux-démocrates souhaitent préserver ce portefeuille pour Sorin Grindeanu, même si aux termes de l’accord initial, ce ministère aurait dû être transféré au PNL. Seule la réduction du nombre de ministères de 20 à 18 a fait l’unanimité. Le premier ministre Nicolae Ciuca devrait déposer son mandat à la fin mai, aux termes du protocole de la Coalition, mais la décision a été ajournée à plusieurs reprises ces derniers temps, sur le fond des tensions provoquées par l’ample grève de l’Education nationale qui s’est entendue sur plus de trois semaines.

    Emplois – Les emplois les plus recherchés en Roumanie sont à retrouver dans des domaines susceptibles de résister aux crises, tels les ventes, la comptabilité, l’ingénierie, l’Informatique et la production, selon un sondage effectué par une plateforme de recrutement de la main d’œuvre. Les Roumains sont intéressés par les postes dont le salaire est explicitement affiché dans les annonces d’embauche. Selon l’étude, ces trois dernières années, le BTP et les TIC ont considérablement progressé, proposant une demande solide et soutenable d’emplois bien rémunérés.

    Théâtre – Le gale des prix de l’Union théâtrale de Roumanie – UNITER – 2023 se déroule aujourd’hui à Timisoara, dans l’ouest qui est Capitale européenne de la Culture. Les meilleurs spectacles seront primés, tout comme des personnalités du monde du théâtre roumain. L’édition de cette année propose un nouveau concept, adapté à l’espace culturel de Timisoara, réalisé par Răzvan Mazilu, aux côtés du scénographe Dragoş Buhagiar, président de l’UNITER. Et c’est également à Timisoara que sont attendus les meilleurs artistes du moment, invités importants de Roumanie et de l’étranger. Initié en 1992, le gala des prix de l’UNITER est un événement qui reconnait l’excellence dans le théâtre roumain, sa vitalité et sa modernité.

    TIFF – Poursuite à Cluj dans le centre-ouest de la Roumanie du Festival international du film Transilvania, (TIFF), l’évènement du genre le plus important de Roumanie. A l’édition de cette année, la ville de Cluj recevra l’acteur australien Geoffrey Rush, le cinéaste américain Oliver Stone, le réalisateur mexicain Michel Franco ainsi que l’acteur serbe Darko Perić. Au total, quelque 200 films de 45 pays figurent à l’affiche du festival. Le TIFF annonce aussi un programme complexe appelé Focus Nordique dédié à un cinéma européen riche, diversifié et novateur, celui des Etats du nord : la Suède, le Danemark, la Finlande, la Norvège et l’Islande. Le programme marque aussi une collaboration avec le Festival du film de Göteborg en Suède, mais aussi avec des instituts du film de tous les cinq pays. Le festival TIFF a ouvert ses portes vendredi et doit s’achever le 18 juin.

    Météo – Les départements du sud-ouest et du sud de la Roumanie sont jusqu’à mardi en alerte code orange aux pluies torrentielles. Les météorologues ont également émis pour la même période une alerte code jaune à l’instabilité concernant des régions du sud-ouest, du centre, les Carpates méridionales et les Carpates occidentales. Dans les autres régions l’instabilité sera plutôt isolée. Temps généralement instable avec des maxima allant de 16 à 29 degrés. 29 degrés à Bucarest.

    Memorandum – The Romanian government adopts, today, a memorandum regarding the salary increases granted to the education staff through the new salary law. In this way the government claims it guarantees that this area will be a priority. The decision was made amid discussions with the education unions, in the context of the all-out strike in the education system launched on May 22. The Liberal Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă has given assurances that the basic salary of the beginner teacher will be set at the level of the gross average salary in Romania, as demanded by the trade unionists. The memorandum also establishes the right of the education staff to a leave allowance calculated according to the basic salary as well as to increments. Meanwhile, the teachers continue their strike, dissatisfied with the offer made by the Government to resolve their claims.



    Protests – Trade unionists from the “Sanitary Solidarity” Federation are organizing, today, a protest rally and march in Bucharest. They draw attention to the fact that orderlies, caregivers and stretcher bearers are the only category in the entire public system that does not benefit from the basic salaries provided for in the 2022 Salary Law. A protest is organized, in Bucharest, in front of the Representation of the European Commission, also by the policemen from penitentiaries and the military reservists. The Federation of Trade Unions from the National Administration of Penitentiaries believes that Brussels is interfering in the countrys domestic policy regarding the modification of the law on military pensions and that the representatives of the European Commission are allegedly blackmailing Romania’s Parliament to adopt the law on military pensions in the form they wanted, otherwise Romania will no longer receive European funds worth approximately 1.4 billion Euros.



    Statistics — Romania reported an economic growth rate of 2.3% in the first quarter of this year, compared to the similar period of 2022, according to provisional data published today by the National Institute of Statistics. Thus, the estimated Gross Domestic Product was over 312 billion lei (about 62 billion Euros). Among others, wholesale and retail trade, motor vehicle and motorcycle repair, transport and storage, as well as constructions contributed to the increase in the GDP. The World Bank estimates that Romania’s Gross Domestic Product will register, this year, a growth of 2.6%. The IMF has revised significantly downward the estimates regarding the growth of the Romanian economy in 2023, from 3.1 to 2.4%.



    Defense – The Commander of the U.S. European Command, General Christopher G. Cavoli, and the Romanian Chief of Defense Staff, General Daniel Petrescu, are the hosts of the Central European Chiefs of Defense Conference, on Thursday and Friday, in Bucharest. The chiefs of defense from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary are participating in the meeting. Nine military leaders of the US National Guard are also present, the Romanian Defense Ministry reports. The event includes topics on security challenges and aims to intensify military cooperation relations to ensure stability in the region.



    UNITER – The UNITER (Theaters’ Union in Romania) Awards Gala will be organized on June 12, in Timisoara (west), the European Capital of Culture this year. The event has already opened to the public, so that spectators can participate in the plays nominated in the Best Show category, alongside stars of the Romanian theater. The gala will be organized as a show, inspired by the fashion of the 1930s. Among the nominated artists this year are actors Victor Rebengiuc, Claudiu Bleonţ and directors Silviu Purcărete, Declan Donnellan and Radu Afrim. (LS)

    Education nationale – Le gouvernement de Bucarest se réunit aujourd’hui pour adopter un mémorandum visant la majoration des salaires du personnel de l’Education nationale par le biais de la future grille unique des salaires. C’est par ce document que l’Exécutif garantit que ce domaine serait prioritaire à l’avenir. La décision a été adoptée sur le fond de négociations avec les syndicats et de grève générale dans les écoles et lycées de tout le pays, déclenchée le 22 mai. Le premier ministre libéral Nicolae Ciuca a assuré que le salaire de base d’un professeur débutant sera majoré jusqu’au niveau du salaire moyen brut, comme le demandent les syndicalistes. Le mémorandum accorde aussi au personnel de l’Education une indemnité de congé calculée en fonction du salaire de base mais aussi d’autres bonus. Entre temps, les enseignants poursuivent la grève, mécontents de l’offre proposée par le gouvernement.

    Santé – Les syndicalistes de la Fédération « La Solidarité sanitaire » protestent aujourd’hui à Bucarest contre les salaires des infirmiers, des aides-soignants et des brancardiers, restés en dessous de la grille salariale de 2022. Par ailleurs, les policiers des pénitentiaires et les militaires en réserve se réunissent également devant le siège de la Représentation de la Commission européenne en Roumanie pour protester. La fédération des Syndicats de l’Administration nationale des Pénitentiaires dénonce l’ingérence de Bruxelles dans les affaires intérieures de la Roumanie. Elle accuse l’Exécutif européen de forcer le Parlement roumain à modifier la loi sur la retraite des soldats. Au cas contraire, Bruxelles menace Bucarest de supprimer l’octroi d’une enveloppe de 1,4 milliards d’euros, provenant des fonds européens.

    UNITER – Le gala des Prix UNITER aura lieu le 12 juin, à Timisoara, capitale de la culture européenne en 2023. L’événement sera ouvert au public qui assistera donc, en direct, aux côtés des vedettes du théâtre roumain à la remise du trophée du meilleur spectacle de Roumanie. Le gala de cette année sera sous la forme d’un spectacle inspiré de la mode des années 1930. Parmi les artistes nominés figurent les comédiens Victor Rebengiuc et Claudiu Bleonţ, ou encore les metteurs en scène Silviu Purcărete et Radu Afrim.

    Immobilier – Les Roumains s’avèrent parmi les citoyens étrangers les plus actifs sur le marché de l’immobilier espagnol, indique un rapport de l’Union des notaires d’Espagne. 10% des ressortissants roumains de ce pays détiennent un logement, selon la source citée. Durant le deuxième semestre de l’année dernière, l’Espagne a enregistré un nombre record de transactions immobilières. 50% des acheteurs roumains vivent en Espagne où ils ont acheté un logement pour ne plus payer des frais de location. Le reste de 50% des Roumains résident dans d’autres pays du monde, notamment en Roumanie et ils ont voulu investir dans l’immobilier. Les Roumains ont payé en moyenne, 1064 euros par mètre carré, tandis que les Marocains d’Espagne n’ont payé que 630 euros.

    Croissance – La Roumanie a enregistré une croissance économique de 2,3% au premier trimestre de l’année courante, par rapport à la même période de 2022, selon des données rendues publiques jeudi par l’Institut national de la Statistique. Le PIB estimé a dépassé les 312 milliards de lei, soit 62 milliards d’euros. La hausse du PIB a été provoquée entre autres, par le commerce en détail, la réparation et la maintenance des autos et des motos, le transport et le dépôt des produits et les travaux dans le Bâtiment. Selon les estimations de la Banque Mondiale, le PIB de la Roumanie devrait enregistrer une avancée de 2,6%. Le FMI a révisé à la baisse les prévisions de la croissance de l’économie roumaine en 2023, de 3,1 à 2,4%.

    Défense – Le chef du commandement de l’armée des Etats Unis en Europe, le général Christopher G. Cavoli et le chef de l’Etat major de la défense de Roumanie, le général Daniel Petrescu sont les organisateurs de la Conférence des chefs de la défense d’Europe centrale ces jeudi et vendredi à Bucarest. Y participent les chefs de la Défense de Bulgarie, République Tchèque, Croatie, Pologne, Slovaquie, Slovénie et Hongrie. Y participent également neuf commandants des structures de la Garde nationale des Etats Unis, précise le ministère de la Défense de Bucarest. A l’ordre du jour de la Conférence figurent des thèmes relatifs aux défis sécuritaires. Elle vise à intensifier les relations de coopération militaire pour assurer la stabilité dans la région.

    Etude – Le plus grand danger pour les enfants de Roumain serait l’utilisation excessive de la technologie et d’Internet, affirment les parents roumains, selon une étude réalisée par la compagnie Reveal Marketing Research. Selon la même recherche, l’excès d’écrans et la violence dans les médias comptent également parmi les dangers auxquels se confrontent les petits. La sécurité physique, accidents et autres blessures figure également parmi les dangers potentiels identifiés par les parents. Côte mesures de protection visant à mettre les enfants à l’abri des dangers, les parents de Roumanie ont mentionné les conversations et l’éducation sur la sécurité en ligne ainsi que la réduction du temps passé sur internet. Enfin, les parents affirment que les petits devraient passer plus de temps en plein air, ils devraient être constamment surveillés et que des filtres de contenu devraient être appliqués à leur accès Internet. L’étude a été réalisée en ligne, du 22 au 26 mai sur un échantillon de 1007 personnes de plus de 18 ans, dont 837 parents.

    Cette année, Timişoara accueillera le Gala organisé par l’Union des théâtres de Roumanie – UNITER -pour récompenser le meilleur de la scène roumaine. Ce n’est pas par hasard que le comité des prix UNITER a choisi d’organiser son gala à Timisoara. Il a décidé de revenir dans la ville phare du Banat au bout de six ans, au moment où Timisoara est capitale culturelle européenne. Pour la première fois, la soirée de gala sera ouverte au public, qui pourra donc applaudir, aux côtés des grands noms de la scène roumaine, les pièces de théâtre nominés dans la catégorie du « Meilleur spectacle ».

    Les organisateurs promettent un véritable show, conçu par le scénographe Dragoş Buhagiar et par le danseur et chorégraphe Răzvan Mazilu. Les meilleures créations théâtrales de l’année précédente seront récompensées, dans un spectacle dynamique, au parfum des années 1920- 1930, mis en place aussi bien sur scène que dans des espaces non conventionnels. Le scénographe Dragoş Buhagiar, à la tête de l’UNITER, affirme avoir travaillé de nombreuses années à Timisoara ce qui lui permet de connaître l’énergie de la ville, tout comme son architecture particulière. C’est la raison pour laquelle il a accepté de s’assumer l’organisation du gala qui, dit-il, sera sans précédent:« L’actuel gala de l’UNITER s’adapte parfaitement à la géographie des lieux, grâce à la chorégraphie de Răzvan Mazilu. Le gala sera présenté par quatre jeunes comédiens, connus aussi comme chanteurs et qui sont pleins de talent. Le décor et les costumes recréent l’atmosphère des années 30. Je suis très préoccupé par le style Art Déco, car à mon avis cela est en harmonie avec la ville. »

    La directrice du Théâtre national de Timisoara, Ada Hausvater, affirme que le centre de l’industrie culturelle la Fabrique des décors accueillera dans ses halles deux représentations de spectacles.« Deux spectacles du Théâtre National de Iași, se dérouleront dans les halles de production, aménagées pour l’occasion. »

    Les comédiens Victor Rebengiuc et Claudiu Bleonţ ainsi que les metteurs en scène Silviu Purcărete, Declan Donnellan et Radu Afrim sont nominés au Gala des prix UNITER de cette année. Les organisateurs ont annoncé trois textes dans la catégorie du meilleur Texte dramatique roumain mis en scène en première absolue. Il s’agit de l’Herbier (écrit et réalisé par Radu Afrim, sur des textes de Simona Popescu, mis en scène au Théâtre National de Târgu Mureş), « Médée: Furie » (texte et mise en scène par Radu Popescu, au Théâtre Apropo de Bucarest) et « Le Moineau » (écrit et adapté pour scène par Leta Popescu, au Théâtre Dramatique « Fani Tardini » de Galaţi).

    Entre autres, deux productions de la Société Roumaine de Radiodiffusion sont nominées dans la section des meilleures pièces de théâtre radiophonique. Les spectacles: « Œdipe rois » (mis en scène par Declan Donnellan, au Théâtre National de Craiova ), « Antonin Artaud : La Famille Cenci » (mis en scène par Silviu Purcărete, au Théâtre National de Iași), ainsi que « Seaside Stories » « Des histoires au bord de la mer » (par Radu Afrim, mis en scène au Théâtre public de Constanța) se disputent le trophée de la Meilleure pièce de théâtre en 2022.

    Strike. Last night, the Romanian Government presented a new and better offer to the teachers who, on Monday, entered the second week of their all-out strike. Teaching and auxiliary teaching staff were offered two bonuses of 2,000 lei (400 euros) each, in June and October. For the non-teaching staff, the offer was 1,500 lei, also in the form of bonuses. At the same time, the unions were promised the conclusion of an agreement with the parties in the governing coalition that would cover all the aspects to be included in the future salary law. The Governments offer was sent to teachers from all over the country, and a response from them is expected regarding the continuation or not of the strike. Today, in the capital, teachers are holding a march. They want to call on the president of the country, Klaus Iohannis, himself a teacher, to get involved in finding a solution to their demands, especially the salary related ones. Last week, over 10 thousand Education employees participated in a rally in front of the Government headquarters. Meanwhile, the strike is particularly affecting final year students, who fear they wont be able to sit their exams on time.



    Protests. In Romania, prison police officers are starting to protest. They stand against the increase of the retirement age to 65 years, as they claim that the life expectancy of employees in the system is 62 years. Today, they are wearing white armbands at work, and for tomorrow a temporary interruption of the activity for two hours is announced in several units across the country. Court clerks too have announced that they plan to join the protests started by the other categories of public employees. On Monday, hundreds of employees of the national Railways Company organized a protest rally. They accuse the continuous degradation of working conditions and the fact that there is no salary scheme in the company to stimulate performance and increase the efficiency of the employees. Trade unionists from the medical sector have also started a calendar of protests. Their claims concern the application of the provisions of the salary law to all employees, with reference to the categories of staff that have the lowest incomes, the granting of vacation vouchers and the modification of the calculation system for increments, night shifts and food allowances.     Pensions. The Romanian Chamber of Deputies is to decide the final form of the bill amending the special pension law. Today, parliamentarians from the labor committee are analyzing the amendments submitted on Monday by the leaders of the PSD-PNL-UDMR governing coalition. The changes were requested by the European Commission, so that Romania could benefit from European funds, as the reform of special pensions is a milestone in the NRRP. According to the new amendments, the standard retirement age is correlated with the public pension system, in order to eliminate exceptions. For diplomats and court auxiliary personnel, the standard retirement age will increase to 65 years. The same principle will apply to military personnel, gradually, until 2035.



    Syria. The National Committee for Emergency Situations, convened on Monday by the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciucă, approved the granting, free of charge, of humanitarian aid to Syria. It is intended for the population affected by the major earthquake produced on the territory of Turkey on February 6, which caused casualties and big material damage in Syria as well. The support is granted based on the humanitarian assistance request initiated by Damascus through the European Civil Protection Mechanism. The Romanian state, through the National Administration of State Reserves and the Romanian Patriarchate, will send basic goods, food, medical devices and shelter items. The transport will be carried out by air, with the support of the Ministry of Defense.



    Forum. The Romanian – Ukraine Bilateral Chamber of Commerce is organizing today, under the auspices of the Embassy of Ukraine in Bucharest, the “Rebuilding Ukraine” forum. The event is attended by government officials from the two countries, as well as representatives of Romanian companies that want to get involved in the reconstruction of Ukraine. Also, the project includes the organization of an annual conference, a forum and an exhibition.



    UNITER. The UNITER Gala, which awards the best Romanian theatrical productions, will take place on June 12, in Timișoara, with a new concept, specially created for the city in the west of the country, which holds the title of Cultural Capital of Europe, the organizers announce din a press conference on Monday. In the preamble, between June 7-10, three of the best shows of 2022, nominated for the UNITER awards, will be presented: “Oedipus King” of the “Marin Sorescu” National Theater in Craiova (south), “Antonin Artaud.     The International Theater Festival (SITF) has closed its doors in Sibiu, central Romania. The theme this year was Beauty. For 10 days, the audience enjoyed about 800 theater, music, dance, circus and street performances, exhibitions, conferences and other events, given by over 3,500 artists from 75 countries. According to the organizers, it is estimated that the daily average of participants was 85,000 people.



    Shows, hundreds of minutes of applause and standing ovations, emotions and tears of joy were part of the magic of the event this year as well, in various spaces, from theaters to squares, streets, synagogues and lots of other unconventional places. There were also special events, conferences and book launches hosted by some of the most important professionals in their fields: architects, artists, managers, creators, cultural facilitators, ambassadors, writers, journalists and theater critics.



    This has been the largest edition so far, but also the one that brings us – me and the whole team – the greatest joy and satisfaction so far, said Constantin Chiriac, the festival’s president. The event also recorded impressive figures in terms of online attendance. For the first time, based on the partnership with the TikTok social network, the SITF broadcast the first live theater show for users of this platform, along with four other events. In total, during the ten days of the Festival, the hashtag #magiaFITS (the SITF magic) enjoyed over one million views on TikTok, with 150,000 users watching the broadcasts live.



    Also in this field, the town of Bistriţa (center) hosted the 30th edition of the Gala of the Romanian Theater Union – UNITER. The best works of the Romanian theater in 2021 were awarded at this gala, attended by some of the most appreciated Romanian artists, professionals from the cultural world and other people close to theatre.



    The prize for the best show was won by Death and the Ploughman by Johannes von Tepl, adapted and directed by Silviu Purcărete, staged at the Vasile Alecsandri National Theater in Iasi. Horia Suru was awarded the best director prize, for the complete Trilogy of Mines by Csaba Székely, from the Theater of Romanian Playwrights in Bucharest, and the best stage design award went to Cosmin Florea, for the show Three sad plays, written and directed by Radu Afrim, staged by the Vasile Alecsandri National Theater in Iasi.



    The best radio drama award went to A Century of Romanian Theater in Chisinau – Revenge of Forbidden Memory, screenplay by Mariana Onceanu, radio adaptation by Magda Duţu, artistic direction by Petru Hadârcă, a production of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Corporation. The Excellence Award was granted in memory of Ion Caramitru, former manager of the Bucharest National Theater and founder of UNITER. The event was also promoted online, being broadcast live on UNITER’s Facebook and Instagram page. (MI)

    – Die Regierung wird nächste Woche mehrere Änderungen am rumänischen Steuergesetzes verabschieden. Damit will die Regierungskoalition aus PSD, PNL und UDMR die Einnahmen des Staatshaushalts erhöhen. Vorgesehen ist die Anhebung der Verbrauchssteuer auf Tabak und alkoholische Getränke, der Mehrwertsteuer für das Gastgewerbe und der Grundsteuer. Glücksspielgewinne bis zu umgerechnet 600 Euro sollen mit 10 % besteuert werden, Gewinne zwischen umgerechnet 600 und 2.000 Euro mit 20 % und Gewinne über 2.000 Euro mit 40 %. Aus Regierungskreisen hieß es außerdem, dass eine weitere Maßnahme die 5%ige Mehrwertsteuer für den Erwerb von Immobilie mit einem Höchstwert von umgerechnet 120.000 Euro und einer maximalen Fläche von 120 Quadratmetern betreffen werde. Die Berechnung der Wohnsteuer soll ebenfalls geändert werden. Dazu soll ein Raster beim Notar verwendet werden und nicht mehr wie bisher der Standort und die Baumaterialien ausschlaggebend sein. Dadurch könnten die Steuern in Großstädten um bis zu 60 % steigen. Die Steuer für das Gastgewerbe soll ab dem nächsten Jahr nicht weniger als 1 % des Umsatzes betragen.




    – Sieben Monate nach ihrer Amtsübernahme wurden alle Minister der Koalitionsregierung in Bukarest vom Premierminister, dem Liberalen Nicolae Ciucă, in ihren Ämtern bestätigt. Der Premierminister besprach die Ergebnisse der Bewertung der Minister mit Präsident Klaus Iohannis und war nach Angaben aus politischen Kreisen überzeugt, dass keine Umbesetzungen erforderlich seien. Ciucă warnte die Minister jedoch, dass er keine kurzfristigen Projekte mehr akzeptieren werde, die zu den Meilensteinen des von der Europäischen Union finanzierten Nationalen Plans für Wiederaufbau und Resilienz gehören. Nach einer Bewertung auf der Grundlage von zehn Kriterien legte Ministerpräsident Ciucă auch eine Bewertung seiner Regierung vor. Darin hob er die Überwindung der Gesundheitskrise, die Stabilisierung der Energiekrise und die Bewältigung der Auswirkungen des Krieges im Nachbarland Ukraine hervor. Er erwähnte auch den größten Investitionshaushalt seit 32 Jahren, das neue Offshore-Gesetz und die Stärkung der Sicherheit innerhalb der NATO und der Europäischen Union.




    – Die Generalinspektion der Grenzpolizei meldete, dass am Montag 9.854 ukrainische Staatsbürgerinnen und Bürger eingereist sind. Seit dem 10. Februar 2022 reisten über 1.450.000 ukrainische Geflüchtete nach Rumänien ein.




    – In der nordrumänischen Stadt Bistrița (deutsch: Bistritz) fand am Montagabend die 30. Ausgabe der Gala des Rumänischen Theater-Verbandes – UNITER statt. Dabei wurden die besten Kreationen des rumänischen Theaters im Jahr 2021 ausgezeichnet. Der Preis für den besten Schauspieler in einer Hauptrolle ging an Lóránd Váta für seine Interpretation des Lopahin Iermolai Alexeevici in der Aufführung Kirschgarten“ von A.P. Tschechow unter der Regie von Juri Kordonsky, des Ungarisches Staatstheaters Cluj. Nicoleta Lefter wurde als beste Hauptdarstellerin für ihre Rolle als Svetlana Allilueva in Hier in Moskau“ von Yulia Pospelova unter der Regie von Catinca Drăgănescu am Bukarester Theater geehrt. Den Preis für das beste Fernseh-Drama erhielt Ziua Z“ von Ionuț Sociu unter der Regie von Bobi Pricop, vom Staatstheater Constanța. Der Preis für das Lebenswerk ging an die Schauspieler Virgil Ogășanu und Dana Dogaru.




    – In allen Landesteilen Rumäniens hält die Hitzewelle weiter an. Im Westen und Nordwesten, in weiten Teilen des Flachlandes und des Vorgebirges erreichten die Temperaturen absolute Rekordwerte für diesen Zeitraum. Die Werte lagen zwischen 31 und 38 Grad Celsius. In Bukarest kletterte die Quecksilbersäule am Dienstag auf 36 Grad.

    radiophonique, accordé par l’Union théâtrale de Roumanie UNITER : Un secol de teatru românesc la- Revanşa
    memoriei interzise/Un siècle de théâtre roumain à Chişinău – la revanche de la
    mémoire interdite, sur un scénario de Mariana Onceanu, Radio Noir. Povestiri polițiste (Sezonul 1)/Récits policiers (Première
    saison), une dramatisation radiophonique de Mihnea Chelaru, et Cazul Tudor Vladimirescu/ Le cas Tudor
    Vladimirescu, sur un scénario de Gavriil Pinte. L’invité de cette édition
    de notre rubrique est le metteur en scène Mihnea Chelaru, innovateur réputé de
    l’art des sons, ses créations ayant reçu de nombreuses récompenses à des
    festivals internationaux prestigieux, tels que le New York Festivals World’s
    Best Radio Programs ou le concours « 60 Sec Radio » de Montréal.

    Dans
    l’entretien d’aujourd’hui, Mihnea Chelaru parle de sa passion pour le théâtre radio
    et de l’adaptation radiophonique de cinq récits inclus dans l’anthologie Noir de București/ Noir de Bucarest,
    sortie aux Éditions Tritonic. Les cinq épisodes, réalisés en 2021, ont été
    diffusés simultanément sur la station de radio nationale « România
    Actualități/Roumanie Actualités » et sur la plate-forme eteatru.ro, dans
    la section podcast. Mihnea Chelaru est l’auteur de l’adaptation du texte, de la
    mise-en-scène et du design ou de la conception sonore de ces productions,
    inspirées par les textes des écrivains Bogdan Hrib, Tony Mott, Dan Radoiu,
    Daniel Timariu, Ștefan Decebal Guță. « Tout d’abord, je suis fan de ce genre littéraire, le roman noir, et
    quand j’en ai découvert du roumain et de très bonne qualité, j’ai tout de suite
    voulu réaliser cette série radio. J’en ai donc parlé à Attila Vizauer, le
    rédacteur en chef de la rédaction « Théâtre national radiophonique »,
    ainsi qu’à l’écrivain et éditeur Bogdan Hrib. Les deux ont aimé mon idée,
    disons, et c’est comme ça que cette série est née. J’ai choisi le titre « Povestiri
    polițiste. Sezonul 1/Récits policiers. Première saison » justement parce
    que j’espère pouvoir continuer ce projet avec une deuxième et une troisième
    saison. Le lancement enligne a fait doubler le trafic sur la page eteatru.ro, ce
    qui montre, à mon avis, l’intérêt du public pour les histoires policières. Et
    je peux même dire que ça nous a apporté un public nouveau, car beaucoup de gens
    ont redécouvert le théâtre radiophonique durant la pandémie. »     , a-t-il dit.


    Mihnea Chelaru a le mérite d’avoir introduit l’enregistrement
    mobile ou en direct (« on location ») dans son domaine
    d’activité en Roumanie. Cela se passait en 2008, lorsqu’il a enregistré le
    spectacle « Le barbier de Séville », mis en scène par Toma Enache. D’autres
    spectacles sont venus s’ajouter (« Argentina », mis en scène par Ilinca
    Stihi, « Metamorfoza », mis en scène par Ion Andrei Puican, « Over
    the Rainbow », mis en scène par Mihnea Chelaru et Ion Andrei Puican, « Sărmanul
    meu tată », mis en scène par Attila Vizauer), bénéficiant de la même technique
    d’enregistrement, ce qui leur a valu des prix à des festivals internationaux
    spécialisés. « La jeune
    génération est habituée à une circulation rapide de l’information, grâce
    notamment au développement des médias enligne. J’ai remarqué, y compris aux
    festivals internationaux auxquels j’ai participé, que les productions les plus
    appréciées duraient 40 minutes maximum. Si elles sont plus longues, même les
    gens de la profession ont du mal à rester concentrés, quelle que soit la
    qualité de la production. Quant à moi, comme j’ai une formation en réalisation
    cinématographique, j’ai essayé de pousser le son de théâtre radiophonique vers
    le son de cinéma, tout en gardant les éléments profitables du premier. Vous
    savez, mon père a travaillé lui-aussi à Radio Roumanie, il a fait de
    l’illustration musicale dans la même rédaction du Théâtre national
    radiophonique, donc moi j’ai été élevé à ce genre de spectacles. Et je n’aimais
    pas du tout entendre en même temps une voix, qui semblait être enregistrée dans
    un espace intérieur, et le gazouillement d’oiseaux pris à l’extérieur ; je
    n’arrivais pas à saisir le lien entre ces éléments. C’est ce qui m’a fait
    vouloir placer l’acteur dans l’environnement réel, de façon à ce que le tableau
    soit parfait et crée l’impression que tout est enregistré dans un même endroit. »    , a-t-il souligné.


    La pandémie a, parait-il, fait redécouvrir le théâtre
    radiophonique au grand public. Mihnea Chelaru confirme le regain d’intérêt pour
    ce genre d’art. « J’ai
    remarqué cette tendance dans de nombreux pays. Par exemple, en Russie, en
    Norvège ou au Canada, les radios publiques avaient fermé leurs sections de
    théâtre radio. Or, avec le retour de l’intérêt du public pour ce type de
    productions, certaines sections ont repris le travail et produisent à nouveau
    des spectacles. Même chose en Amérique, où le genre avait disparu il y a une
    dizaine d’années ; ces derniers temps, le théâtre radio reprend des
    couleurs grâce à de nombreux producteurs privés qui s’y sont lancés, en plus
    des stations nationales. Cette année, Radio Roumanie organisera une nouvelle
    édition du Festival international de théâtre radiophonique Grand Prix Nova, qui
    existe depuis près de dix ans. Vous y rencontrerez des gens passionnés, qui

    Romanians are grieving as of Sunday, when two valuable personalities passed away: several times canoeing Olympic champion Ivan Patzaichin and actor Ion Caramitru, the director of the Bucharest National Theatre and the head of the Romanian Theatre Union (UNITER).



    “A legend … a champion human being has turned into a star. Ivan Patzaichin has left us. His is a success story, but also a story of decency and strength of character. It is the story of a son of the Danube Delta who gave back tenfold and inspired people to live beautifully, the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee announced on Sunday morning. The athlete was 71.



    The winner of seven Olympic medals, four gold and three silver, Ivan Patzaichin also won 22 world championships. As a coach, he carried on his stellar track record, as his students won as many as 150 Olympic, world and European competitions.



    Had this been a regular early autumn day, Ivan Patzaichin would have now given us details about a new edition of the international rowing festival “Rowmania Fest, organised for over 10 years now by the “Ivan Patzaichin – Mila 23 Association and scheduled to take place these very days. Over the years, the event has included the first European childrens triathlon, competitions on the Danube between various Delta communities, roundtables on biodiversity, concerts, fairs and outdoor exhibitions.



    A modest, generous and selfless man, Ivan Patzaichin repeatedly turned down political and administrative posts, and went through the suffering of the recent period with the same smile he had given the world on so many occasions, including a race with a broken paddle that left the world speechless.



    He was the vice-president of the Romanian Kayaking and Canoeing Federation and vice-president of the Romanian Olympic Committee (elected in 1990) and he is the only Romanian athlete to hold the Platinum Wreath Olympic Order.



    Also on Sunday, the great actor Ion Caramitru died, aged 79. He was the director of the National Theatre in Bucharest, played hundreds of parts on stage, in radio drama and on screen. He was a stage director, a professor, a culture minister, the president of UNITER, and a participant in the 1989 anti-communist revolution in Romania.



    During his long and outstanding acting career, Ion Caramitru won countless awards and distinctions, and was made an honorary knight of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 1995. He was also awarded as Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in France.



    Ion Caramitru was declared one of the best 10 actors in the role of Hamlet in a ranking put together by the former artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Michael Boyd. As he himself confessed, Caramitrus life was very much shaped by poetry, which he saw as a miracle of language. (tr. A.M. Popescu)

    Actorul Ion Caramitru a încetat din viaţă la vârsta de 79 de ani duminică, la Spitalul Elias, din București. Ion Caramitru avea 79 de ani și conducea Teatrul Național din București.



    Ivan Patzaichin şi Ion Caramitru, care au murit duminică, au luminat arenele sportive şi scenele pe care au urcat, a afirmat preşedintele Klaus Iohannis. Astăzi este o zi tristă pentru ţara noastră. Ne despărţim de doi dintre cei mai iubiţi români. Ivan Patzaichin şi Ion Caramitru au luminat arenele sportive şi scenele pe care au urcat. Învingători şi strălucitori în sport şi teatru, Ivan Patzaichin şi Ion Caramitru, prin dispariţia lor neaşteptată, ne lasă de azi mai săraci, consolaţi doar de amintirea gloriei pe care au dăruit-o României prin energia, talentul, dăruirea şi eforturile lor de a fi cei mai buni. Condoleanţe familiilor şi celor dragi pentru pierderea suferită!, a scris şeful statului pe Facebook.



    “Este o zi neagră pentru România. Daca dimineață am pierdut un mare român din lumea sportului, iată că amiaza ne aduce o veste care schimbă total viața culturală. Chiar la vârsta pe care o avea Ion Caramitru încă era un motor a ceea ce înseamnă evenimentele treatrale”, a spus și Bogdan Gheorghiu, ministrul Culturii.



    Ion Caramitru s-a născut într-o familie de aromâni.





    Caramitru a absolvit Institutul de Artă Teatrală și Cinematografică I.L. Caragiale clasa profesor Beate Fredanov, în 1964, debutând cu un an mai devreme la Teatrul Bulandra – cu rolul principal în Hamlet de William Shakespeare. Și-a continuat angajamentul la teatrul Bulandra un timp, jucând și în spectacole la Teatrul Național București și în diverse alte teatre.





    A avut zeci de roluri pe scenele românești și ale lumii, zeci de roluri în filme, sute de roluri la teatru radiofonic, regizor, profesor de teatru, ministru al culturii, președinte UNITER – Ion Caramitru, o viață dedicată teatrului.



    Ion Caramitru a fost ministru al Culturii între 1996 și 2000. A fost ales preşedinte UNITER de la înfiinţarea acesteia, la 15 februarie 1990.



    În 2017, a fost distins cu Titlul de cetăţean de onoare al Capitalei, precum şi cu titlul de ambasador Shakespeare în România, oferit de Consiliul Britanic, cu ocazia Anului Shakespeare 400. Tot în anul 2017, preşedintele Klaus Iohannis l-a decorat pe Ion Caramitru cu Ordinul Naţional Steaua României în grad de Cavaler, cu prilejul împlinirii vârstei de 75 de ani.



    În zilele de 21-22 decembrie 1989, s-a numărat printre conducătorii manifestaţiilor anticomuniste din Bucureşti. La 22 decembrie 1989, în fruntea unei coloane de manifestanţi a pătruns în clădirea Televiziunii Române, fiind primul care a anunţat pe postul naţional de televiziune înlăturarea dictaturii.
