    Duminicǎ s-a încheiat, la Flushing Meadows, ultimul turneu de tenis de Mare Şlem al anului, şi anume Openul Statelor Unite. La masculin a câştigat sârbul Novak Djokovici, numǎrul unu mondial, iar feminin s-a impus, oarecum surprinzǎtor, italianca Flavia Penetta, locul 26 în clasamentul WTA înaintea turneului american.


    In urma acestei victorii, Pennetta, jucǎtoare în vârsta de 33 de ani, şi-a anunţat retragerea, dupǎ a 49-a participare la un turneu de Mare Şlem.



    De remarcat este faptul cǎ, în semifinale, Pennetta a trecut de Simona Halep. Românca s-a calificat în premierǎ în semifinalele Openului american, performanţǎ pentru care Radio România Internaţional a desemnat-o Sportivul Sǎptǎmânii.



    Pânǎ în semifinala pierdutǎ în faţa italiencei, parcursul Simonei la Flushing Meadows a fost excelent. In primul tur, ea a trecut de neozeelandeza Marina Erakovic, care s-a retras la scorul de 6-2 şi 3-0 pentru româncǎ, din cauza unei accidentǎri. A urmat, în turul secund, Katerina Bondarenko din Ucraina, de care Halep a trecut cu 6-3, 6-4. In turul 3, a fost rândul jucǎtoarei americane Shelby Rogers, care a cedat în faţa româncei cu 6-2, 6-3. Halep a pierdut primul set abia în optimile de finalǎ, în faţa sportivei germane Sabine Lisicki, dar s-a impus, în cele din urmǎ, cu 6-7, 7-5, 6-2.



    Sferturile de finalǎ i-au adus-o în faţǎ pe Victoria Azarenka, din Belarus, de care nu mai trecuse niciodatǎ, dar, de data aceasta, Simona a câştigat într-un mod impresionant, cu 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. In semifinale însǎ, românca s-a lovit de Pennetta, jucǎtoare aflatǎ în mare formǎ, iar italianca a câştigat fǎrǎ drept de apel, cu 6-1, 6-3.


    Mai trebuie adǎugat cǎ intrarea în semifinalele Openului american i-a consolidat româncei poziţia secundǎ în clasamentul mondial.

    BUKAREST: Präsident Klaus Iohannis hat die von Rumänien angebotene Flüchtlingsquote als sehr großzügig bezeichnet. Im Rahmen einer Pressekonferenz am Montag sagte er jedoch auch, dass die Debatte um die Quoten bald zu Ende sein werde. Mann könne nämlich einen EU-Staat nicht zu etwas zwingen, zu dem er nicht imstande sei, so der rumänische Staatschef. Iohannis hob ferner hervor, dass Rumänien weder ein fremdenfeindliches, noch ein autistisches oder separatistisches Land“ sei. Man wolle zur Lösung der Flüchtlingskrise beitragen. Unterdessen haben die EU-Innenminister bei ihrem Sondertreffen die bereits vereinbarte Umverteilung von 40.000 Flüchtlingen aus Griechenland und Italien auf andere EU-Staaten offiziell beschlossen. Ein entsprechender Rechtstext sei von den Ministern angenommen worden, teilte der EU-Ratsvorsitz am Montag mit. Demnach werden die Flüchtlinge auf freiwilliger Basis von anderen EU-Staaten aufgenommen. Im Juli hatte es aber zunächst nur Zusagen für die Aufnahme von gut 32.000 Menschen gegeben. Weitere Zusagen sollen bis Jahresende erfolgen. Eine Verteilung über verpflichtende Quoten war am Widerstand insbesondere osteuropäischer Staaten gescheitert. Rumäniens Innenminister Gabriel Oprea hatte vor der Abreise nach Brüssel offen erklärt, Bukarest werde gegen die bindenden Quoten abstimmen. Gemäß Verteilungsschlüssel würde Rumänien gut 6000 Flüchtlinge aufnehmen müssen. Die rumänische Regierung hatte die Zusage für die Aufnahme von lediglich 1785 Personen erteilt.



    BUKAREST: Der Gründungsvater der rechts-populistischen Partei Großrumänien, Corneliu Vadim Tudor, ist tot. Der frühere Präsidentschaftskandidat und Europa-Abgeordnete war am Montagmorgen aufgrund eines vermuteten Lungenödems in das Bukarester Militärkrankenhaus eingeliefert worden. Bei der anschließenden OP erlitt er einen Infarkt und konnte nicht mehr wiederbelebt werden. Vadim Tudor wurde 65 Jahre alt.



    CHISINAU: Die Veranstalter der Proteste gegen die Regierung der Moldaurepublik haben die Bevölkerung zu zivilem Ungehorsam und einem Generalstreik aufgefordert. Die Protestteilnehmer hatten eine Resolution angenommen, die die Bildung einer neuen politischen Bewegung und einer sogenannten Regierung des Volksvertrauens fordert. Unter den Demonstranten kam es auch zu Auseinandersetzungen. Eine Gruppe von Jugendlichen, die die Vereinigung mit Rumänien forderte, wurde weggejagt.



    SPORT: Tennisprofi Simona Halep hat ihre Weltranglistenposition Nummer zwei gefestigt. Sie hatte beim letzten Grand Slam-Turnier des Jahres, den US Open, das Halbfinale erreicht. Weltranglistenerste ist nach wie vor die US-Amerikanerin Serena Williams, Dritte Maria Scharapowa aus Russland. Die überraschende US-Open-Gewinnerin in diesem Jahr, die Italienerin Flavia Pennetta, steht zum ersten Mal in ihrer Karriere unter den ersten zehn Spielerinnen der Welt und rangiert jetzt auf Platz 8. Unter den ersten 100 Namen sind in den Rankings noch vier weitere Rumäninnen zu finden: Irina Begu (30.), Monica Niculescu (39.), Alexandra Dulgheru (52.) und Andreea Mitu (79.).

    Moskau: Der russische Präsident Wladimir Putin hat am Samstag die Waffenruhe in der Ostukraine begrüßt. Die aktuelle Lage bezeichnete Putin als das wichtigste Ergebnis der Anstrengungen für Frieden in der Region. Eine bereits Mitte Februar vereinbarte Feuerpause zwischen dem ukrainischen Militär und prorussischen Separatisten ist zum Schuljahresbeginn am 1. September in Kraft getreten. Der Krieg im Osten der Ukraine hat 8.000 Menschen das Leben gekostet. Kiew und der Westen haben Moskau massiver Waffenlieferungen an Separatisten im Osten des Landes bezichtigt. Moskau weist die Vorwürfe zurück. Die Sanktionen gegen Moskau müssten nur im Fall eines lang andauernden Frieden aufgehoben werden, sagte der ukrainische Premier Arseni Iatseniouk.



    Seit Jahresbeginn hätten über 430.000 Flüchtlinge und Migranten die Reise über das Mittelmeer nach Europa unternommen. Seit Januar sind rund 2.750 Menschen dabei gestorben, hat die Internationale Organisation für Migration mitgeteilt. Rund 310.000 von ihnen seien in Griechenland und 121.000 in Italien eingetroffen, stellt eine Bilanz der Genfer Organisation heraus. Mehrere europäische Staaten haben am Freitag die von Brüssel und Berlin vorgeschlagenen EU-Verteilquoten von Flüchtlingen vehement abgelehnt. Ungarn hat darüber hinaus ein hartes Durchgreifen gegen Flüchtlinge angekündigt. Falls die Regierung den Krisenfall ausrufe, werde jeder illegale Einwanderer sofort verhaftet, sagte Ministerpräsident Viktor Orban. Seit Jahresbeginn seien in Ungarn über die Grenze zu Serbien rund 180.000 Flüchtlinge eingetroffen. Am Freitag hat Österreich die Autobahn am Grenzübergang zu Ungarn gesperrt. Der Zugverkehr zwischen beiden Ländern bleibt vorerst ausgesetzt.



    Riad: Bei einem Unglück im saudi-arabischen Mekka sind mindestens 100 Menschen ums Leben gekommen. Laut einer vorläufigen amtlichen Opferbilanz wurden zudem über 200 Menschen verletzt, als am Freitag, dem Gebetstag der Muslime, ein Baukran auf die Große Moschee der Stadt stürzte. Der Kran seit laut Augenzeugen bei heftigem Wind und starken Regenfällen umgekippt. Der Unfall ereignete sich wenige Tage vor der weltweit größten muslimischen Pilgerfahrt. Um die Große Moschee herum stehen derzeit mehrere Baukräne. Sie sind Teil eines riesigen Bauprojekts zur Erweiterung des Moscheebereichs. Dadurch sollen dort gleichzeitig rund 3 Millionen Menschen Platz finden. Der Gouverneur der Region Mekka ordnete eine Untersuchung des Unglücks an.



    Bukarest: Mehr als 500 Menschen aus 24 Ländern beteligen sich am Samstag und Sonntag in Bukarest am 28. Internationalen Festival der Ersten Hilfe. Die Veranstaltung findet aus Anlass des Welttags der Ersten Hilfe erstmals in Rumänien statt. Der Aktionstag wurde ins Leben gerufen, um auf die Bedeutung der Ersten Hilfe hinzuweisen und wird zum Anlass genommen, an diesem Tag verstärkt Erste-Hilfe-Aktionen abzuhalten. Der jährlich stattfindende europäische Wettbewerb bringt Erste-Hilfe-Teams des Europäischen Roten Kreuzes und der Hilfsorganisation Roter Halbmond nach Bukarest. An der Veranstaltung beteligt sich auch die Präsidentin des Rumänischen Roten Kreuzes, Ihre Königliche Hoheit Prinzessin Margareta.

    BUKAREST: Rumänien wird sich auch künftig an allen Anstrengungen zur Bekämpfung des Terrorismus und jeglicher Form von Extremismus aktiv beteiligen. Das erklärte Innenminister Gabriel Oprea anlässlich des 14. Jahrestages der Terroranschläge vom 11. September am Freitag. Die Terroranschläge auf das World Trade Center und das Pentagon sowie die blutigen Anschläge in Europa zeigten, dass der Terrorismus überall und jederzeit neue Opfer fordern könne und dass kein Land vor der Geißel des Terrors völlig geschützt sei, fügte Oprea hinzu. Die Tragödie vom 11. September 2001 habe die Beziehung zwischen Rumänien und den USA auf eine neue Ebene gehoben, sagte Rumäniens Außenminister Bogdan Aurescu. In einer Mitteilung an den US-Außeninister John Kerry bekräftigte Aurescu, Rumänien sei fest entschlossen, sich auch ferner den Bemühungen der USA und der internationalen Partner zur Bekämpfung jeder Form von Terrorismus anzuschließen. Aurescu betonte anschließend die ausschlaggebende Rolle, die die strategische Partnerschaft zwischen Rumänien und den USA bei der Verstärkung der bilateralen Beziehungen, der Sicherheit beider Staaten und der Stabilität im gesamten euroatlantischen Raum spiele. Am 11. September 2001 hatten Mitglieder des Terrornetzwerks Al-Kaida Passagierflugzeuge entführt und in das World Trade Center in New York sowie ins Pentagon in Washington gesteuert. Eine vierte entführte Maschine stürzte im Bundesstaat Pennsylvania ab. Fast 3000 Menschen kamen bei den Anschlägen ums Leben.



    BUKAREST: Innenminister Gabriel Oprea wird am Montag am außerordentlichen Rat Justiz und Inneres in Brüssel teilnehmen. Dabei soll das Maßnahmenpaket der Europäischen Kommission zur Flüchtlingskrise zur Sprache kommen. Oprea wird laut einer Mitteilung des Innenministeriums die Bereitschaft Rumäniens zur Aufnahme von gut 1700 Asylbewerbern aus Griechenland und Italien, sowie von 80 Flüchtlingen von außerhalb der EU, bestätigen. Gleichzeitig soll er die EU-Quoten zur Verteilung der Flüchtlinge ablehnen. Gemäß dem Verteilungsschlüssel sollte Rumänien über 6000 Personen aufnehmen. Oprea, der auch das Amt des Vizepremiers für die Landessicherheit inne hat, war von dem Präsidenten und dem Ministerpräsidenten Rumäniens beauftragt worden, den Standpunkt in Brüssel zu vertreten. Die verbindlichen Verteilungsquoten waren am Freitag auch von den sogenannten Visegrad-Staaten Polen, Tschechien, Ungarn und die Slowakei nach einer Tagung in Prag abgelehnt worden. Die aktuelle Flüchtlingkrise könnte die größte Herausforderung in der Geschichte der Europäischen Union sein, erklärte der deutsche Außenminister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Deutschland und andere Länder dringen auf eine gerechte Verteilung von Flüchtlingen in der EU.

    MIGRANT CRISIS — The Vishegrad Group foreign ministers- of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia-are today meeting in Prague with their counterparts from Germany and Luxembourg, for talks on the migrant crisis, which is deepening by the day. The Vishegrad Group member states voiced dissatisfaction with the quota regime set by the EU. In turn, Romania has expressed reticence with the so-called mandatory quotas of immigrants, that the EU member states will give shelter to. In another move, Hungary has today announced it supplemented by 3,800 the number of military deployed on the border with Serbia, to cope with the growing flow of immigrants, which last night registered a record high of 3,600 people. Austria has today announced it closed the Nickelsdorf checkpoint, on the border with Hungary, because of the high number of immigrants, some 8,000, who crossed the border within 24 hours. According to an official with the UN High Commissioner’s Office for Refugees, over 7,600 other refugees, entered Macedonia, coming from Greece, over the last 24 hours.



    COMMEMORATION — Romania is further firmly committed to the international effort to fight terrorism and extremism, Romanian deputy prime minister and interior minister Gabriel Oprea said today, in a message delivered in commemoration of 14 years since the 9/11 terror attacks in the US. According to Oprea, the terror attacks in the US as well as in other European countries have shown that terrorism can hit anywhere and anytime and that no country is fully defended against this scourge. The relationship between Romania and US gained a new significance in the wake of the tragedy that struck on September 11, Romanian foreign minister Bogdan Aurescu said. In a message to US Secretary of State, John Kerry, marking 14 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which claimed the lives of 3,000 US citizens, including members of the Romanian-US community, Aurescu reiterated Romania’s determination to carry on, alongside the US and its international partners, the efforts meant to prevent and fight this threat, irrespective of its forms of manifestation. He evoked the significant role of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the US in boosting bilateral relations and ensuring common security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic region.



    MOLDOVA — The prime minister of the Republic of Moldova, a former Soviet state with a predominantly Romanian speaking population, Valeriu Streletz, has said the country’s existence is in jeopardy. Against the backdrop of prolonged, one week long antigovernment protests in downtown Chishinau, the prime minister said the problems that prompted people to take to the street, such as corruption, poverty and the lack of confidence in the political class, are the outcomes of accumulated process which unfolded over many years. Strelets has added that his cabinet, which took office in late July, will resign only after a vote of confidence in Parliament. On Sunday, tens of thousands of people protested near the government building, demanding the resignation of the cabinet and of president Nicolae Timofti and calling for early elections. Hundreds of them decided to stage protests around the clock, placing tents in front of the government building. Declaring itself of pro-Western orientation, the three-party ruling coalition dramatically lost credibility in Moldova, after one million US dollars from the country’s banking system, the equivalent of 15% of Moldova’s GDP, vanished into thin air, in unclear, mysterious circumstances.



    FESTIVAL — The “George Enescu” International Festival continues in Bucharest. Performing on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum today will be Konzerthausorchester Berlin, conducted by Horia Andreescu. Another highlight of the day is the concert given by the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, as part of the “Great Orchestras of the World” series. The 13th day of the festival ends with a concert given by the Chamber Orchestra of Paris. Over 3,000 Romanian and foreign artists in the world musical elite will be performing on the stage of the festival, one of the largest events of its kind in Europe, which runs through September 20. Tens of indoor concerts and outdoor events are being held throughout the festival.



    TENNIS — Second seeded Romanian tennis player, Simona Halep, who has qualified for the first time to the semi-finals of the US Open in New York, is today facing Italian Flavia Pennetta (WTA rank: 26). Playing the other semi-finals will be first seeded American player Serena Williams and Italian Roberta Vinci. The games, initially scheduled for Thursday, have been postponed for today by the organisers of the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, because of rain.

    Corruption – Le maire de Bucarest, Sorin Oprescu (63 ans), a été placé en garde à vue par les procureurs anticorruption, pris en flagrant délit au moment où il acceptait 25.000 euros de pots-de-vin. Selon l’AFP, depuis 2013, un groupe organisé auquel a adhéré M. Oprescu, aurait créé au sein de l’administration locale de Bucarest un système par lequel les entreprises qui souhaitaient obtenir des contrats avec les institutions publiques subordonnées au maire devaient remettre à des responsables une partie du profit réalisé grâce à ces contrats, selon les enquêteurs. Sorin Oprescu aurait demandé 10% de la valeur de chaque contrat. Ancien membre du Parti Social Démocrate (actuellement au pouvoir à Bucarest), M. Oprescu est maire de la capitale roumaine depuis 2008, en étant à son 2e mandat.

    Agriculture – Le ministre roumain de l’Agriculture, Daniel Constantin demandera lundi aux responsables européens de trouver des solutions pour soutenir les fermiers roumains dont les cultures ont été détruites par la sécheresse ainsi que les producteurs qui se sont vu diminuer considérablement les revenus à cause de la crise du secteur laitier. Daniel Constantin participera à la réunion du Conseil Agriculture et Pêche de l’UE. Dirigés par le Luxembourg, les débats porteront sur les difficultés de différents secteurs agricoles au niveau européen.

    Festival – Le festival international George Enescu se poursuit à Bucarest, avec ce dimanche au programme : le récital de la pianiste Elisabeth Leonskaja, surnommée la dernière grande dame de l’école soviétique et par le concert de l’ensemble Hyperion ayant pour invité le guitariste américain Stephen o’Malley . Jusqu’au 20 septembre, la 22e édition du Festival international Georges Enesco, réunit plus de 3000 artistes roumains et étrangers. Parmi les orchestres participants à cet évènement figurent San Francisco Symphony, Israel Philharmonic, dirigée par le célèbre Zubin Mehta, l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Vienne, l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Munich, Staatskapelle de Dresde, la London Symphony Orchestra, l’Orchestre de Saint-Pétersbourg, l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo, l’Orchestre d’Amsterdam. L’événement comporte au totale 58 concerts en salle et nombre d’événements en plein air.

    Tennis – La Roumaine Simona Halep, a vaincu Samedi l’Américaine Shelby Rogers, s’adjugeant une place dans les huitièmes de finale de l’US Open, dernier Grand Chelem de l’année. Simona Halep jouera le match suivant contre Sabine Lisicki d’Allemagne. La Roumaine s’est également qualifiée dans les huitièmes de finale dans la competition de double mixte aux côtés de son compatriote Horia Tecau, ils affroteront prochainement le double Julia Goerges (Allemagne) / Nenad Zimonjic (de Serbie). Dans la compétition de double Dames, Irina Begu et Raluca Olaru joueront contre les taiwanaises Yung-Jan Chan / Hao-Ching Chan. Enfin dans la compétition de double messieurs, la paire roumano – indienne Florin Mergea / Rohan Bopanna et roumano – néerlandaise Horia Tecău / Jean-Julien Rojer se sont qualifiées dans les huitièmes de finale du tournois de Flushing Meadows.

    Football – L’équipe nationale de football de la Roumanie rencontre lundi sur son propre terrain la Grèce, dans les préliminaires du Championnat d’Europe de football. Vendredi, la Roumanie et la Hongrie on fait un match nul, 0 à 0, suite auquel les tricolores reculent au classement, après avoir dominé la poule F de la compétition, menée désormais par l’Irlande du Nord qui a eu raison des Iles Féroé. La dernière participation de la Roumanie à un tournoi européen remonte à 2008, mais sans sortir de la phase des poules. La sélection roumaine des moins de 21 ans jouera mardi à Erevan contre l’Arménie, dans les barrages du Championnat d’Europe des moins de 21 ans de 2017, qui sera accueilli par la Pologne.     Concours – Les gagnants des Grands Prix du jeu concours Voyage avec la navette de Mamie Ruţă, organisé par RRI et « L’Antenne des villages », station de la Radio publique roumaine, ont démarré leur excursion à Făgăraş-Sâmbăta de Sus et à Mărginimea Sibiului (au centre de la Roumanie). Une semaine durant, les auditeurs de RRI Jamila Bekkai, du Maroc et Gilbert Dupont, de France, qui est accompagné par son épouse, Annie Lefèvre Dupont, ainsi que les auditeurs de « L’Antenne des villages » Anca et Cristian Balaban, de Roumanie, découvriront les attractions touristiques, culturelles, historiques et religieuse les plus importantes du pays de Fagăraş et des alentours de Sibiu. Les gagnants des Grands Prix sont accompagnés par les journalistes Simona Lazăr et Valentin Ţigău. RRI, qui a reçu 197 réponses correctes et complètes aux questions du jeu-concours, a décidé de récompenser par 60 autres prix et mentions consistant en objets les meilleures réponses et motivations.

    Code fiscal – Le nouveau Code fiscal devrait être débattu mercredi par les députés membres de la Commission chargée du budget. Jeudi, il figurera à l’ordre du jour du plénum de la Chambre des députés. Les sénateurs roumains ont adopté mardi à une large majorité le document dans la forme convenue par les partis politiques. Parmi les mesures figurant dans le nouveau Code fiscal mentionnons la réduction de la TVA à 20% à compter de janvier 2016 et à 19% à partir de 2017. La suppression de l’accise supplémentaire sur les carburants et de la taxe sur les constructions spéciales sera reportée à 2017. Le nouveau Code fiscal pourrait être promulgué la semaine prochaine par le président Klaus Iohannis, qui, dans un premier temps, l’avait renvoyé pour réexamen au Parlement.

    Moldova – La priorité absolue de Bucarest c’est la République de Moldova – a déclaré mercredi le premier ministre roumain Victor Ponta, lors de la réunion annuelle de la diplomatie roumaine. Il a demandé aux diplomates roumains de promouvoir les intérêts de l’Etat voisin, tout comme ils défendent les intérêts de la Roumanie. Rappelons-le, le premier ministre roumain s’est rendu dans la capitale moldave, Chisinau, le 27 août, à l’occasion du 24e anniversaire de l’indépendance de la République de Moldova à l’égard de Moscou. Il avait été reçu par le président Nicolae Timofti et son homologue moldave, Valeriu Strelet. Victor Ponta a réaffirmé à Chisinau, le soutien de Bucarest aux aspirations européennes du pays voisin. A noter aussi que l’année dernière, la République de Moldova a conclu des accords d’association et de libre échange avec l’UE, qu’elle espère rejoindre en 2020.

    Migration – Plus de 350’000 personnes ont risqué leur vie depuis le début de l’année en traversant la Méditerranée pour gagner l’Europe, et près de 2700 sont mortes en mer lors de ce périple, a révélé mardi l’Organisation internationale pour les migrations. Des dizaines de milliers de Syriens qui ont fui le conflit de leur pays ont atteint cet été la côte turque de la Mer Egée avant d’embarquer dans des canots gonflables, direction la Grèce, porte d’entrée dans l’UE. Les organisations humanitaires estiment que ce dernier mois environ 2.000 personnes sont parties de Turquie vers les îles grecques. Selon l’Agence européenne pour le contrôle des frontières, Frontex, plus de 23 000 migrants sont arrivés en Grèce par la mer la semaine dernière. L’UE déploie des efforts pour faire face à cet afflux migratoire sans précédent, le plus grand depuis la Seconde Guerre Mondiale.

    Tennis – La joueuse roumaine de tennis Monica Niculescu s’est qualifiée pour le deuxième tour de l’US Open, dernier Grand Chelem de l’année après avoir vaincu, mardi, la Russe Alexandra Panova. Monica (41e WTA) rencontrera au deuxième tour l’Italienne Flavia Pennetta, tête de série n° 26. Simona Halep, deuxième favorite de la compétition, s’est elle aussi qualifiée, en remportant le match contre la Néo-Zélandaise Marina Erakovic. Simona Halep devra affronter au deuxième tour l’Ukrainienne Katerina Bondarenko. Les trois autres sportives roumaines figurant dans le tableau du simple dames de l’US Open, Andreea Mitu, Alexandra Dulgheru et Irina Begu ont été éliminées dès le premier tour.

    Sport – L’équipe de Roumanie de football doit affronter vendredi la sélection hongroise, dans un match comptant pour les préliminaires du Championnat d’Europe. Lundi prochain, les Roumains rencontreront, à domicile, les Grecs. Forts des quatre victoires remportées et avec deux égalités sur six matches disputés, les Roumains sont leaders du Groupe F des préliminaires. Ils ont engrangé 14 points et sont talonnés par les Nords – Irlandais (13 points) et les Hongrois (11 points). Les matches du Groupe finiront en octobre. Les footballeurs roumains rencontreront les Féroïens en déplacement et les Finlandais à domicile. La dernière participation de la Roumanie à la finale d’un tournoi européen remonte à 2008. Selon la presse sportive bucarestoise, la consolation des supporters roumains reste la sélection nationale, car, pour la première fois depuis 12 ans, la Roumanie n’aura pas de représentantes dans les compétitions européennes de football interclubs.

    Parlement – Après 2 mois de vacances, les sénateurs et députés roumains se sont réunis ce 1er septembre pour démarrer la seconde session ordinaire de l’année. Une des priorités à l’agenda, c’est le nouveau Code fiscal, que le président Klaus Iohannis a renvoyé au Parlement pour réexamen. La semaine dernière, les leaders politiques de Bucarest ont décidé d’adopter le Code dans sa forme initiale, que le Parlement avait déjà approuvée il y a deux mois. La seule différence, c’est que plusieurs mesures seront mises en œuvre par étapes. Parmi les mesures figurant dans le nouveau Code fiscal mentionnons la réduction de la TVA à 20% à compter de janvier 2016 et à 19% à partir de 2017. L’accise supplémentaire sur les carburants et la taxe sur les constructions spéciales restera en vigueur en 2016 aussi, à l’exception des constructions spéciales dans l’agriculture. A part le Code fiscal, le Parlement de Bucarest doit également se pencher sur la loi des salaires et celle du vote par correspondance.

    Trafic aérien – La grève générale illimitée annoncée pour le 1er septembre par les contrôleurs de trafic aérien de Roumanie a été annulée. La décision survient après les négociations menées ces derniers jours entre les syndicalistes de l’Administration roumaine du trafic aérien (ROMATSA) et les représentants du ministère des Transports, qui ont abouti sur un accord lundi soir, signant la convention collective de travail. Parmi les revendications des aiguilleurs du ciel, mentionnons la réduction de l’âge de la retraite de 65 à 55 ans, l’amélioration des conditions de travail, ainsi que la démission de la direction de ROMATSA. Le 15 juillet dernier, ils avaient déjà procédé à une grève d’avertissement de deux heures, une situation sans précédent pour le système aérien roumain. 2.500 à 3.000 vols transitent quotidiennement le territoire roumain, apprend-on par l’Administration roumaine du trafic aérien, qui emploie à ce jour près de 1500 personnes.

    Carte vitale – La carte de santé, l’équivalent de la carte vitale française, est obligatoire à partir de ce 1er septembre, devenant le seul instrument valable pour se faire rembourser ou valider les services médicaux dans le système sanitaire public. Les services médicaux d’urgence ne seront pas conditionnés par la présentation de cette carte. Par contre, dans le cas des maladies chroniques, les patients devront présenter la carte de santé à tous les fournisseurs de services médicaux, à commencer par les médecins traitants jusqu’aux pharmaciens. A présent, près de 15 millions de cartes ont été émises, et 600.000 autres seront distribuées avant la fin de l’année.

    Touristes – Quelques 5,3 millions de touristes ont été accueillis par les différentes structures d’hébergement de Roumanie au cours des 7 premiers mois de l’année, soit un nombre de 17% plus élevé que celui de la même période de l’année dernière. Parmi eux on décompte 1,2 millions de touristes étrangers, fait savoir l’Institut national de la statistique. La plupart provenaient d’Europe, notamment des pays communautaires.

    Festival – Le Festival international George Enescu, se poursuit à Bucarest, avec un concert, ce soir, de l’Orchestre symphonique d’Israël sous la baguette de Zubin Mehta, aux côtés de la Chorale de la Philharmonie George Enescu. Au programme – des oeuvres d’Enescu et Mahler. La 22e édition du festival qui porte le nom du grand compositeur roumain se déroule jusqu’au 20 septembre dans la capitale roumaine, réunissant plus de 3000 des plus grands musiciens du monde.

    Tennis – La joueuse roumaine de tennis Simona Halep, numéro 2 mondiale, rencontre aujourd’hui la Néo-zélandaise Marina Erakovic, au premier tour de l’US Open, dernier tournoi de Grand Chelem de l’année, qui a commencé lundi à Flushing Meadows de New York. En même temps, Irina Begu, 28e WTA, s’opposera à la Bélarusse Olga Govortsova; Monica Niculescu, 40e mondiale – à la Russe Alexandra Panova, Alexandra Dulgheru, 51e mondiale – à l’Allemande Angélique Kerber. Une autre Roumaine, Andreea Mitu, a été vaincue lundi par la Tchèque Tereza Smitkova. C’était sa première participation à l’US Open.

    Météo – Les météorologues ont émis une alerte orange à la canicule pour mercredi dans 11 départements de l’est, du centre et du sud-ouest de la Roumanie, où les températures maximales atteindront les 38 degrés. La canicule persiste sur le reste du territoire, avec des maximales allant jusqu’à 35 degrés. Aujourd’hui l’on attend 37 degrés dans deux départements de l’ouest et de l’est de la Roumanie, placés en alerte orange. Il fait chaud à Bucarest aussi où il y avait 31 degrés à midi.

    On Tuesday, the first day of the autumn parliamentary session, the Romanian Senate endorsed the new Fiscal Code bill. Originally passed unanimously by the Senate and Chamber of Deputies, the draft Code was sent back to Parliament by President Klaus Iohannis, on grounds that it was not sustainable. Last week the political parties decided to endorse the bill in its original form, but to postpone the implementation of certain provisions. The first measure stipulated in the new Code is a two-stage cut in the VAT, to 20% as of January 2016 and to 19% as of 2017. The bill will be discussed and voted on in the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday.



    Supporting Romanian capital in the EU and outside it must be the priority of the Romanian diplomats, the participants in the annual meeting of the Romanian diplomacy agreed on Tuesday. The head of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce, Mihai Daraban, said the Romanian diplomats must work closely with the business community to efficiently promote their interests. In turn, the members of the diplomatic corps encouraged the Romanian business people to enter markets outside the EU, which are highly profitable and where they can promote the economic interests of the entire Union. A traditional event, the annual meeting brings together in Bucharest, every autumn, the heads of the Romanian diplomatic missions abroad. Also taking part are the Romanian diplomats holding high-level positions in international organisations, such as Sorin Ducaru, assistant to the NATO Secretary General, or Cornel Feruţă, chief coordinator at the International Atomic Energy Agency. Focusing on the eastern and southern borders of NATO and the EU, this years meeting will have as special guests the foreign ministers of Poland, Slovakia, Norway and Jordan.



    The Romanian Education Ministry announced that around 24% of the 55,000 participants have passed the autumn session of the Baccalaureate. Most of them completed 12th grade this summer. The percentage is 1.83% higher than the pass rate in the autumn session last year, whereas in the summer session the pass rate was nearly 66%. In the summer session there were 42 high schools where all graduates have passed the Baccalaureate, as well as 55 where no candidate managed to pass. According to the Education Ministry, these might be closed down because of the poor results.



    Romanian anti-corruption prosecutors Tuesday detained the former head of the Directorate Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism, Alina Bica, and the former chief of the National Tax Administration Agency, Şerban Pop. They are suspected of having received 230,000 euros in bribes from a businessman. Bica, chief prosecutor in charge with fighting organised crime in Romania, had already been indicted for corruption offences in two separate cases.



    Romanias national football team leaves for Budapest on Wednesday, to play on Friday against Hungary in the qualifiers for the European Championship. The match will be followed by a game against Greece, in Bucharest on Monday. After 4 wins and 2 draws in 6 games, the Romanians are the leaders of the qualifying Group F, with 14 points, followed by Northern Ireland with 13, and Hungary with 11. The group stage concludes in October, when Romania is to take on Faroe Islands away from home and Finland on home turf. Romania last took part in the European final tournament in 2008. According to the sports media in the country, the national team is the last hope for local football fans, after all the 4 teams in the European inter-club competitions failed to reach the group stage, an unprecedented situation in the past 12 years.



    The Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, no 2 in the world, Tuesday qualified into the second round of the US Open, after New Zealands Marina Erakovic quit in just 47 minutes, at 6-2, 3-0. In the same round of the competition, the Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru was defeated by Germanys Angelique Kerber, 6-3, 6-1.

    PARLIAMENT – After a two-month vacation, Romanian senators and deputies met on September the 1st in the second common session this year. The agenda of the session includes important draft laws, with a significant social and political impact. One such draft is the new fiscal code bill, which has been sent back to parliament by president Klaus Iohannis, for revision. Last week, political leaders decided by consensus to adopt the draft in its initial form, already approved by parliament two months ago, but some of the measures will be implemented in stages. The first measure stipulated in the new Fiscal Code refers to a gradual reduction of the VAT, in two stages, down to 20% in January 2016, and further to 19% in 2017. The additional tax on fuels and the special constructions tax are kept one more year, except for special constructions in agriculture, because that tax will be eliminated next year. Alongside the fiscal code, the salary law and the “vote by mail law are in the focus of public attention.



    HEALTHCARE – The health card is mandatory in Romania, as of today. Thus, it becomes the only instrument that can be used to discount and validate medical services in the public healthcare system for insured people, older than 18. Emergency medical services are not conditioned by the presentation of the card. In exchange, people suffering from chronic illnesses should use it at all providers of medical services, from doctors to pharmacists. Some 15 million cards have already been issued so far, and approximately 600,000 others will be ready by the end of the year.



    AIR TRAFFIC – The Romanian air traffic controllers all out strike for an indefinite period of time due to start on September the 1st has been cancelled, after the employees representatives reached an agreement with the employers. The two sides signed a new collective bargaining agreement. The air traffic controllers claims included pay rises, a reduction of the retirement age from 65 to 55 years, better working conditions and the resignation of the companys management. On July the 15th, air traffic controllers went on a two –hour token strike, an unprecedented situation in the Romanian air transport system. According to ROMATSA, which currently has some 1,500 employees, Romanias airspace in transited by 2,500-3,000 aircraft every day.



    TOURISM – Some 5.3 million tourists were registered in Romania in the first seven months of the year, data made public by the Romanian hotel industry show. The figure is 17% higher than in the same period of 2014. Over 23% of these tourists, 1.23 million respectively, were foreign nationals, data released by the National Statistics Institute show. Most tourists came from Europe (75%), and 85% of these were EU citizens.



    FESTIVAL – Performing in Bucharest on Tuesday, the third day of the George Enescu International Festival is the Israel Philarmonic Orchestra under the baton of world famous conductor Zubin Mehta, alongside the “George Enescu Philharmonic Choir. The concert program includes pieces by Enescu and Mahler. The George Enescu International Music Festival, one of the most outstanding events of its kind in Europe, is unfolding in Bucharest until September the 20th. Over 3,000 prominent foreign and Romanian musicians will perform on the stage of the festival.



    TENNIS – Second seeded Romanian tennis player Simona Halep is today facing Marina Erakovic, in the first round of the US Open, the last Grand Slam tournament of the year. Also today, Irina Begu (WTA ranking: 28) is today facing Olga Govortsova, Alexandra Dulgheru is meeting Angelique Kerber, and Monica Niculescu is facing Alexandra Panova. Another Romanian, Andreea Mitu, was defeated on Monday in the inaugural round by Teresa Smitkova.



    WEATHER – Meteorologists have today issued a new Code Orange alert against heat and thermal discomfort, valid on Wednesday for 11 counties in eastern, central and south-western Romania. The thermal discomfort index will further be high, and maximum temperatures will reach 37-38 degrees C. In the rest of the territory, it continues to be hot in most regions of the country, where the highs of the day stand at 35-36 degrees C. A Code Orange alert is valid today for the counties situated in the west and east of the country, but the heat wave also affects the rest of the territory, where temperatures stand at 35 – 37 degrees C. The noon reading in Bucharest was 31 degrees.

    Die Tennis-Weltranglistendritte Maria Scharapowa wird bei den US Open fehlen. Die Russin hat ihre Teilnahme wegen einer Verletzung am Bein abgesagt. Dies teilten die Organisatoren am Sonntag (Ortszeit) in New York mit, einen Tag vor dem Beginn des letzten Grand-Slam-Turniers in dieser Saison. Die Russin bestätigte dies via Facebook. Ich habe alles getan, was möglich war, um rechtzeitig fit zu werden. Leider war nicht genügend Zeit“, schrieb die 28-Jährige. Die Siegerin von 2006 hatte bereits vor zwei Jahren gefehlt, damals wegen einer Schulterblessur. Ihr bislang letztes Match bestritt Scharapowa beim verlorenen Wimbledon-Halbfinale gegen Serena Williams im Juli, berichtet Spiegel Online.



    Für die Weltranglistendritte aus Rumänien, Simona Halep, ändert der Ausfall von Scharapowa kaum etwas: Die beiden waren in unterschiedliche Hälften gelost worden, erst bei einem eventuellen Finaleinzug hätte Halep es mit der Russin zu tun bekommen können. Nach wie vor gilt die Nummer zwei der Setzliste aus Rumänien auf ihrer Hälfte als Favoritin. Zum Auftakt trifft sie auf die Neuseeländerin Marina Erakovic, die erste härtere Probe würde sie laut Experten erst in der dritten Runde mit der Französin Alize Cornet bekommen. Gegen Cornet hatte Halep zuletzt beim Sandturnier in Madrid verloren. Sollte sie gegen die Französin bestehen, würde laut Prognosen ein Achtelfinale gegen die Deutsche Sabine Lisicki oder die Überraschung der Saison aus der Schweiz, Timea Bacsinsky, folgen. Rein theoretisch könnte Halep im Viertelfinale auf die Wimbledon-Finalistin Lucie Safarova stoßen, während im Halbfinale Caroline Wozniacki aus Dänemark oder die Tschechin Petra Kvitova lauern könnten. Doch die Prognose schließt jegliche Überraschungen aus. Simona müsse gut spielen. Es lauern viele mögliche Fallen“, so der Kommentar des Australiers Darren Cahills, derzeitiger Coach von Simona Halep, nach der Auslosung.



    Die weiteren Tennisprofis aus Rumänien hatten gemischtes Losglück. Die Nummer 28. der Weltrangliste Irina Begu trifft als gesetzte Spielerin zum Auftakt auf die Weißrussin Wolha Hawarzowa, derzeit die Nummer 69. der Rankings. Für Begu ist es gleichzeitig eine gute Möglichkeit zur Revanche: Gegen Hawarzowa hatte sie in der ersten Runde von Toronto mit 3:6 und 6:7 den Kürzeren gezogen. Nach einem möglichen Erfolg könnte sich die Rumänin in der zweiten Runde mit der Bulgarin Tswetana Pironkowa treffen, danach würde die Tschechin Lucie Safarova die Hürde in der 3. Runde darstellen.



    Alexandra Dulgheru (die Nummer 51.) hatte schlichtweg Pech bei der Auslosung: Sie debütiert gegen die 11. der Setzliste aus Deutschland, Angelique Kerber. Sollte sie dennoch die Oberhand behalten wartet in der dritten Runde mit Wiktoryja Asaranka eine weitere harte Nuss.


    Monica Niculescu (derzeit 40. der Rankings) hat zu Beginn der US-Open eine Qualifikantin als Gegnerin. In der zweiten Runde würde sie womöglich gegen die Italienerin Flavia Pennetta, die 26. der Setzliste, antreten.



    Zum ersten Mal ist Andreea Mitu, die zurzeit Platz 74. belegt, für das Hauptfeld der US Open qualifiziert. In der Auftaktrunde gilt sie sogar als Favoritin gegen die Nummer 100. der Welt aus Tschechien, Tereza Smitkova. Smitkova hat kein Spiel auf der WTA-Tour seit den French Open gewinnen können, dort hatte sie die zweite Runde erreicht. Mitu erwartet in der zweiten Runde ein theoretisches Duell mit der US-Amerikanerin Madison Keys, in der dritten Runde würde die Polin Agneska Radwanska die Gegnerin sein.



    Bei den Männern ist Rumänien lediglich im Doppel vertreten: Horia Tecau und der Niederländer Jean Julien Rojer sind das Favoritenpaar Nummer 3., während Florin Mergea und der Inder Rohan Bopanna an der Setzlistenposition Nummer 6 zu finden sind. Tecău/Rojer treten in der ersten Runde gegen das deutsch-österreichische Paar Andre Begemann/Oliver Marach an. Das Duo Florin Mergea/Rohan Bopanna kämpft als erstes gegen Austin Krajicek/Nicholas Monroe aus den USA.

    Tenisul de înalt nivel s-a mutat în America de Nord, în aşteptarea turneului de Mare Şlem de la Flushing Meadows. Sǎptǎmâna trecutǎ s-a jucat la Cincinnati, în statul american Ohio, unde, la masculin, premiile au depǎşit 3.800.000 de dolari, iar la feminin, 2.400.000.


    Printre protagonistele întrecerii fetelor s-a aflat şi românca Simona Halep. Cap de serie numǎrul doi, ea a reuşit sǎ ajungǎ pânǎ în finala turneului, unde a pierdut însǎ în faţa Serenei Williams.



    Pentru performanţa de la Cincinnati, Radio România Internaţional a desemnat-o pe Halep Sportivul Sǎptǎmânii. Este de remarcat faptul cǎ Simona primeşte acest titlu pentru a doua saptamânǎ consecutiv, dupǎ ce fusese evidenţiatǎ, zilele trecute, pentru calificarea în finala unui alt turneu major, şi anume cel de la Toronto.

A urmat o altǎ victorie în trei seturi, cu 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 în faţa Andreei Petkovic, din Germania. In sferturile de finalǎ, Simona a învins-o pe rusoaica Anastasia Pavliucenkova, cu 7-6, 6-2, iar în semifinale a trecut de Jelena Jankovic, din Serbia, cu 6-1, 6-2. A urmat finala cu Serena Williams, în care jucǎtoarea americanǎ s-a impus cu 6-3, 7-6.



    Sǎ mai notam cǎ evoluţia de la Cincinnati i-a permis româncei revenirea pe locul secund în ierarhia mondialǎ, i-a adus 585 puncte în clasamentul ATP şi un cec de 240.500 dolari. Din pǎcate însǎ, jocurile grele şi-au pus amprenta asupra stǎrii de sǎnǎtate a jucǎtoarei.     Tenisul de înalt nivel s-a mutat în America de Nord, în aşteptarea turneului de Mare Şlem de la Flushing Meadows. Sǎptǎmâna trecutǎ s-a jucat la Cincinnati, în statul american Ohio, unde, la masculin, premiile au depǎşit 3.800.000 de dolari, iar la feminin, 2.400.000.


    Printre protagonistele întrecerii fetelor s-a aflat şi românca Simona Halep. Cap de serie numǎrul doi, ea a reuşit sǎ ajungǎ pânǎ în finala turneului, unde a pierdut însǎ în faţa Serenei Williams.



    Pentru performanţa de la Cincinnati, Radio România Internaţional a desemnat-o pe Halep Sportivul Sǎptǎmânii. Este de remarcat faptul cǎ Simona primeşte acest titlu pentru a doua saptamânǎ consecutiv, dupǎ ce fusese evidenţiatǎ, zilele trecute, pentru calificarea în finala unui alt turneu major, şi anume cel de la Toronto.



    In turneul din Ohio, Simona Halep a trecut, în primul joc, cu 7-5, 5-7, 6-4, de Kristina Mladenovic, din Franţa, jucǎtoare pe care nu o mai învinsese niciodatǎ. A urmat o altǎ victorie în trei seturi, cu 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 în faţa Andreei Petkovic, din Germania. In sferturile de finalǎ, Simona a învins-o pe rusoaica Anastasia Pavliucenkova, cu 7-6, 6-2, iar în semifinale a trecut de Jelena Jankovic, din Serbia, cu 6-1, 6-2. A urmat finala cu Serena Williams, în care jucǎtoarea americanǎ s-a impus cu 6-3, 7-6.



    Sǎ mai notam cǎ evoluţia de la Cincinnati i-a permis româncei revenirea pe locul secund în ierarhia mondialǎ, i-a adus 585 puncte în clasamentul ATP şi un cec de 240.500 dolari. Din pǎcate însǎ, jocurile grele şi-au pus amprenta asupra stǎrii de sǎnǎtate a jucǎtoarei.
